Discovery GF Corn Tortillas
« on: January 24, 2006, 11:01:46 AM »
Has anyone tried Discovery brand Gluten Free Corn Tortillas?  I keep meaning to try them as they are 100% corn, but I wanted to know if someone else had. :-)

I haven't tried them -- but, what's Discovery brand? Where do you find it?

I found them too dry, though better then El Paso corn tortillas.  I order my Corn tortillas from Cool Chile, they are very good and homemade.

I was wondering if they had indeed improved!  Those Old El Paso ones with flour... well I just never bought them as they whole idea of a corn tortilla has nothing to do with flour... just seemed wrong!

I make my own, but I think I might order some now....

I prefer them to Old El Paso's corn tortillas, they are smaller and remind me more of what I'd be getting from home (but still not quite). They are good for enchiladas, which I am making tonight. I'd also use them for tacos, both fried and heated. Not so bad for breakfast, either, come to think of it, if they are heated and you're using them to scoop up your eggs and beans and rice.  ;)

The Cool Chile have improved greatly.  I went to the Cool Chile restaurant and saw the tortillas being freshly made.  I ordered 3 dozen last time.  I have been craving mexican food so much in this pregnancy ;)

I got addicted to corn tortillas because my friend is from the DF and Oaxaca and they use them more than the flour...

I remember lovely BBQ's with nice meat and veg hot off the grill slapped in a corn tortilla and eaten bending slightly forwards so as to not drip .....

lovely!

Yes I used the Discovery ones to make enchiladas last week. If you follow the directions on the pack (sprinkle with water etc) they work well for that. Oh  I see StellaMarie already said that. Oh well I agree with StellaMarie.
