Does anyone have a good suggestion for a light easy read?
« on: February 06, 2006, 09:43:52 AM »
I am looking for a light easy read with good writing, characters and a happy story/ending.  Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I am in a reading slump since the move and starting my new job and I am desperate to get out of it.  I love reading soo much but can't focus on anything long enough to push through the slump.  I need a read that will carry me along!

Anything by Katie Fforde! She's where I turn when my brain hurts!

It is absolute fluff, so don't expect anything more than that! But it's also lovely escapism!

Anything by Jennifer Weiner. She wrote "In Her Shoes," the recent movie with Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette. I really liked her book "Good In Bed." I highly recommend it for a light read.

I was gonna suggest Little Earthquakes another one by Jennifer Weiner.

"Elegance" by Kathleen Tessaro.  Funny and light.  About a Yank living in London and trying to fit in.  ;)
Hollywood, CA -> London, UK 2004
London, UK -> Long Beach, CA 2007

Best 3 1/2 years of my life!

Land Girls by Angela Huth is a good read.

I LOVE that book!  Did you ever see the movie?  Cute, but not as good (they never are).

I also have her "Wives of the Fishermen"-not as light, but really good.

My vote for a fun read: "Dime Store Magic" by Kelly Armstrong.

I'd never heard of this, but just looked it up on Amazon and it sounds wonderful. I ordered a second-hand copy for 1p!

LOL  Me too!

I third Jennifer Weiner, great books, my favourite was her first one Good in Bed.

I also have Elegance as well (on Kuyperama suggestion) and still need to read it.

Yes I saw the movie first but it was a few years later that I read the book so it wasn't all spoiled for me.

Good bargain Helen! It's a great book.

Chick Lit in general. There are a million of them - Lisa Jewell and Sophie Kinsella are my personal fav.s....
