Bulk flowers?
« on: February 11, 2006, 03:24:35 AM »
Ok I give up...I have tried searching online and get nowhere :( Does anyone know if its possible to get flowers wholesale anywhere?

Costco does it in the US, do they do it in the UK too?

I am specifically looking for hydrangeas and roses..I just really dont want to pay hundreds to have a couple of bouquets, buttonholes and some as decorations, and for the cake....

Hmm.  When I do a search for wholesale flowers on google.co.uk and click to only show results from within the UK, I get a bunch of websites but none I've seen list any prices.  Some say they're only for florists, not for retail customers.  And I don't see any that are in the area where you'll be having your wedding (Bristol, isn't it?)

I found a place on confetti.co.uk ..I can't remember the name of the company but I bought my flowers wholesale from..I'll have a look to see if I can remember them and post it later on.

Yeah the Bristol/Bath area (gonna be staying in Bristol and having the wedding in and moving to Bath in July), Id gladly get flowers from further out if need be though ;)

That was the same problem I had, either found florist supplies or ones who didnt do general public sales.

Alicia I didnt even think of confetti.co.uk, been going there quite a bit as I noticed they have good prices for the favours etc I want..if youre able to find the company that would be wonderful!

Well I found one in Nottingham that looked like it sold bulk flowers to the general public...but it didn't list any prices and that'd be kind of a hike unless you were headed up that way for some other reason as well.

Here's the website:  http://www.abwholesaleflowers.co.uk/

It says something about "delivery"....but I'm betting that probably just means within the surrounding area.

And here's the google result that led me to it:  http://www.craft-fair.co.uk/suppliers.cfm?SubCatno=92   I just clicked on the first thing I saw that said wholesale flowers, and didn't look through the rest of the link.

I dunno, if you wanted to go with dried or silk there are plenty of cheap suppliers that deliver within the UK...but I'm guessing that you don't want to go that route from the way your posts about it sound.

Ive never really been able to find silk flowers that looked realistic enough unless they cost every bit as much as fresh flowers :(

Even at hobby lobby they wanted $3 a stem for hydrangeas, thats the same cost as places Ive found with fresh.

I didn't buy wholesale but I did just order quantities of flowers from a local florist and then did the bouquests myself. It was much cheaper this way.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Thats certainly an option, I must admit I have only been looking online, not actually talking to the florists, so when they say THEY will arrange the flowers I just am on to the next one...

I suppose asking them directly if I can just by x number of blooms would work, I will definitely keep it in mind :)
