I found it a lot easier to go meat-free over there than here in the US.
My problem is comments from my family

The lot of them are rather rude, call me weird, say I am picky etc....at this point I will eat fish and poultry...but am eliminating the poultry soon.

I noticed there is a lot better selection of veg-friendly foods there (I was in England, dunno about Scotland, but surely it wouldnt be that different?). And restaurants werent a problem for df and I at all. And the fact that things 'safe' for vegetarians or vegans are labelled as such on the packaging was nice.
My other problem is my fiance is a vegetarian that doesnt like vegetables
Good luck with your move in May!

Only thing is, we miss out on a lot of the 'traditional' English dishes - steak & kidney pie, pasties, yorkshire pudding, etc.
Have you tried the veggie pasties? I have had the cheese and onion, and df has another veggie one all the time...I know its not the traditional pasty with meat, but they are soooo yummy, we'd get them from a little shop in the city centre in Bath when I would accompany df for the day
