Caribbean Islands

If you wouldn't mind, Fungirl, it'd be interesting to hear from someone who's recently been there.

I'm the type who likes to explore a bit when I'm somewhere new, and I like that these day trips are possible from St Martins to Saba, St Barths, Anguilla etc.

I can't tell with Aruba and Curacao how far they are from each other or whether a day trip is possible.  Having said that it's not the end of the world to stay on one island the whole time if the island has a fair bit to offer.  I guess my fear is that there wouldn't be enough on offer in Aruba.  I enjoy going to the beach but I'm not the type to sit on it from sunup to sundown, I like to have diversions available.  Hmm, it's very close to Venezuela...nah, that probably wouldn't be a good idea!

Oh yes they are FAB........I had a day pass to the one in Antigua and wished I hadn't had to get back on the ship.....Stacey went to the one in Jamiaca....

I would loveeee to go to the Grand Bahamian one.....

Do NOT recommend the Turks and Cacaos...........not alot to do there........

now they have a offer on if you stay in a concierge room you get a free set of Samsonite luggage....

not sure time yet - perhaps during my Feb break or spring break of next year...I think I'd like either St Lucia, Antigua or Jamaica...looking at it as a potential honeymoon thing...(yes, not engaged and planning...but I'm a girl)

I loved Antigua.....it was so quiet when we went and we spent most of the day out on a 2 man hobie cat sailing...dh used to be in a sailing club here so he had a flying across the water...it was soooo much fun...i would love to go back...and to be able to walk up and get any kind of drink at any time was cool as well....ppl drinking bloody mary's at 10 in the morning...

they had hot pretzels with cheese sauce...mmmm

oh and the 2 person hammocks were kewl as well....

What I'd like to know is why are all of the UK islands that BA, Virgin fly to so expensive (1 1/2 - 2 times the airfare) compared to all of these Dutch and French islands that Air France and KLM fly to?  And in most cases the French & Dutch flights are direct while the UK flights are stopovers and still cost hundreds of pounds more?
And these are flights right before Easter as well.
I think the British airlines are really behind the curve on the Caribbean flights!

I suppose that's true but Air France and KLM are hardly less known airlines.  It almost seems as if these airlines (especially Air France) are artifically keeping the prices low.  And it's not just to a number of Caribbean islands that they have really low prices right around Easter but also to Japan (half the price of the London - Tokyo direct
and that includes Heathrow - CDG!)
