application acknowledgement
« on: February 18, 2006, 12:11:49 AM »
So I sent my postgrad application off to the UK 2 weeks ago...the international office recieved it on Feburary 6 (according to the USPS) and it takes a week to be forwarded to the relevant department, so it should be there by now.  However, I haven't received any acknowledgement that they received my application and was wondering if I should email the department just to check...I know it's probably not necessary, but I'm neurotic and would feel better knowing they *definitely* had received my application, especially since I didn't send it to them directly.  Should I email, or is this a really bad idea?  Any input appreciated.

I'd give it a few more days - give two weeks if they say one - and then e-mail.

I don't think it will be a problem to ask, if you are polite. Especially since you are mailing internationally. Things sometimes get lost or take a really long time to get places, and it is good to know. I had sent in my application when we visited last year and I went to the admissions office and asked if they had received it. They were happy to look up all the pieces on their computer and tell me what had arrived and what was still missing. So I don't think there would be a problem with asking. Don't bug them every day, but showing you are concerned could actually be a good thing.
