ILR and spousal visa question
« on: February 20, 2006, 02:22:06 AM »
I am trying to make sure that I understand the ILR requirement for people entering with spousal visas...

My husband and I lived together for a year in Wales, then spent a year apart.  Then he traveled to the US to marry me.  We will have been married for four years on June 28th, and have lived together in the US continuously since about a month before the wedding.   If we move after June 28th of this year, I know that I will be eligible for ILR.  What if he moves over now, to get things set up, and I move over in autumn?  Would I then only get FLR and have to apply for ILR after 2 years?

Does it matter if you enter with FLR or ILR?  Does it affect your ability to find a job, or anything else?

Thanks everyone.

If you are going to apply to come to the UK after having been married for 4 years then you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Enter - simple as that.

Thanks Victoria.  The wording in the immigration rules was a bit confusing.  I also called UK Visas this morning, just to confirm (I'm a huge worrier).   Thanks again.
