When's the earliest we can leave?
« on: February 21, 2006, 02:46:57 PM »
My fiance's K1 fiance visa application in the US has been approved and we're just awaiting their letter of instructions on what to do next to arrive in the post.

I just have a couple question about the formalities of things:

1) After we go to the home office in Edinburgh or London (not sure which it will be yet -- hope it's Edinburgh) for the interview, do we have to receive anything back from them before we can leave the UK/enter the US again?

2) Can my fiance enter/re-enter the UK, or once we go to the US is he not allowed to leave again until after we're married?

Sorry if this isn't very clear but I have a cold so I feel a bit out of it.  [smiley=dozey.gif]

I don't know about the first one, but my DH might.. He flew two weeks after his interview.

I can tell you this.  No, he won't be able to leave the USA once he has been admitted under the K-1 and until you are married and the paperwork for the conditional permanent status (green card) processed.

I seem to remember there being advanced parole if there is an emergency like a death in the family though.

You will also have 6 months from the date of acceptance to get married, but you guys will fit in with that just fine.

Congrats on Vermont moving a bit faster!

I was getting excited to answer and then realized it was the fiance visa you asked about.
We were already married so I'm not of much help :-\\\\

I hope it all goes smoothly for you though and Im sending happy vibes.

Thanks!!!  ;D Yes we are, these are very exciting but nervous times.  :o

Any ideas what types of things they'll ask, etc.? (We already have photo albums ready to show.)

Do they approve you on the day of the interview, or do you have to wait even longer for that?
