Do you treat the pearl barley the same as you would risotto rice? Arborio rice isn't in my diet, but pearl barley is!

Indeed- it takes longer than risotto, but its got a lovely texture- really hearty!!

I packed my lunch last night for my first day at work! Eeee!  I'm having a cous cous salad with roasted red peppers and feta and some grapes on the side.

Back on a coleslaw kick. 

I packed every day this week, so to celebrate Friday the mister and I met for lunch at the new Daddy Donkey location in Spitalfields/Brick Lane. I'm pretty critical of the Mexican food served over here, but their burritos weren't half bad!

The carnitas were better than the chicken, and the tortiallas weren't made from masa harina and the cheese was just cheddar instead of queso fresco BUT their salsa verde was delicious with just the right about of pep, and the guac was pretty good as well. So for the price (£5-6) and convenience from my office, I'd definitely go back!

A roast beef sandwich on Hovis wholemeal bread, a Philly light snack pack with mini Ritz crackers, & some Walkers Baked plain chips.

A pbj & a sliced Gala apple.

Two mini wraps (tore one normal one in half) with hummus.

Big bowl of Bun Bo Hue and some pork/lemongrass meatballs  @ pho

Some really nice seafood chowder, that I really enjoyed, but didn't need to continue tasting all day.    As my Spanish friend would say, it was repeating on me!
