Underwood chicken spread

Dont get excited... we don't have it here.

But i cant stop thinking about it lately...
I saw a cat food advert the other night and both DH and i said 'god, that cat food looks nice... too good for cats!' (no really, it did... big chunks of white chicken, etc), and suddenly Underwood chicken spread popped into my head and refuses to leave!

A couple of cans of this are definitely going on my shopping list for when i visit my parents in Texas later this year!   :)

Oooh, I do like that. With mayo and black pepper. I also really like the ham spread with sliced dill pickles.

I've never tried the meat spreads here. They scare me for some reason. Anyone know what they are like?
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

The concept of a "meat spread" in general sort of scares me!  :P

I will say that Iaam's Kitten/Junior canned food has a very gloopy and spreadable texture....

I also really like the ham spread with sliced dill pickles.

Ooh, I'm a big fan of the devilled ham.  Which reminds me of the recipe for what is known in my family as "Crack":

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 can Underwood devilled ham
1 8oz. brick cream cheese
1/2 cup crushed black olives
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Blend ingredients together and form into a log.  Chill, then serve with crackers.

Mmm... cheesy, hammy, salty goodness! :D

this isn't meat-based, but here's aversion of crack in our family:

1 lg pkg cream cheese, softened
1 small pckt crumbled blue cheese
1 jar kraft old english cheese spread
juice of 1/2 a medium onion
crushed walnuts

cream the cheeses & onion juice until blended.

set bowl in fridge to harden.

when mixture is pliable, not gloopy, scrape out of bowl & roll in crushed walnuts.

makes the greatest cheeseball ever.

DF keeps begging me to bring jars of old english cheese over so that we can keep making it in brum :P

Oooh... yum!  I would eat that, but dont like nuts so would have to leave out the pecans.
Will add Underwood Devilled Ham to my Texas shopping list as well!

I've never had underwood, but I make a chicken spread quite often at home. I just use leftover chicken, and mush it up with a bit of mayo, then season it. Kinda like you would do tuna salad. My hubby loves it. I love it spread on crackers.....yum!

I make that too... it's just 'chicken mayonnaise' to me.
But the underwood stuff is good cos it hasnt got mayo in it...   :)
