changing name between ILR & Nationality...
« on: March 04, 2006, 07:25:25 AM »
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone's done this?  My husband and I are going to combine our surnames and we're going to get his ILR in the next few weeks (his UK entry date on the spouse visa was 10 April 2004), then apply for nationality straight away as he entered the UK on a student visa in March 2003, so he's been here 3 years.

The London Embassy quote 15 working days to get a passport back to him with our new surname in, we haven't been able to send it in before now as at xmas we booked flights in our old names, to travel last week - but now I'd really like to get his ILR interview (we're going in person to Croydon) done as soon as possible, so that just in case there's any problems with it, we'll have more time to sort it out.

Oh another part of our story is that we're actually moving to the US in May, hence wanting to have things sorted out sooner rather than later.

So my question is, if we use his current passport for the ILR, then send it off and apply for his Nationality just before we leave for the US with a copy of his new passport, and our marriage certificate showing my surname as well, would that be accepted?

Thanks for any info,
Lizx
