Altoid gum in the UK?
« on: March 05, 2006, 12:38:00 AM »
Well, specifically England...Im not gonna trek all over the UK for gum ;)

Im wondering if anyone knows if I can find the altoids gum over there...I got my fiance hooked and hes all out ;) The first time he had it I forgot to warn him and he almost fell over ;) Now I cant find it anymore in my store!!!  hope I can find some tomorrow at a different store and stock up before going over to make it easier but I would like a UK source if I can find it.

Yes I know the brand is English ;)  Ive been able to find British food stores that sell to the US online that have the mints but no sign of the gum, sainsburys doesnt seem to have it either.

If I find it Im gonna get quite a few tins, the people at the airport will think Im a nut ;) Then again every time I have gone over Ive had at least 3 types of gum and 3 packets of each type...the altoids it was something like 6 ;) Im a gum addict, sugarfree of course! :P

how funny that someone should bring up altoids......my DH and i were just talking about that the other day.  i brought a tin of the old fashion mints over from the US and he started asking me what they were.  and i said to him "how do you not know what they are....they are made in great britain!!??"  anyway....i've been looking for them at the stores here (not hardcore looking...just whenever i remember) and i haven't seen anything altoid.  i do miss the sour line that they have...the apple ones are my favorite.  and i do enjoy the teeny tiny mints they have as well....but i think just because i like the little tin they come in.

We only get the original peppermint Altoied mints here in the UK. I'm sure there might be a rare shop here and there that might sell the different ones manufactured for the US but I haven't seen any.

I have some of the gum here.  I brought it back with me from NY.  I think one is opened, the other is still sealed.  If DF wants it I can send it to him ;D

I tried the Altoids Sour Apple gum and the flavor was very intense but only lasted about 5 minutes. I was bummed.  :(

They do the sours but they are pretty expensive.

They are made in Wales, but the tins say they are made in Italy  ::)

We have two tins of Altoids left, Sour Apple and Sour Cherry. Too much for me but the Hubby loves them. Never seen them over here though, we bought ours back with us in November on our last visit.

Cybercandy appears to carry Altoids of various flavours and the gum (see link above).

I am hoping to find the gum when I go to the wal-mart near my home when I go to pack. As much as I dont WANT to go, or to do the packing, I am a bit excited by the finality..and I am getting off topic hehe :P

Lets hope they have them and I can stock up :) df was telling me he found a tin the stuff I left behind, so hes ok for now, hopefully he can wait a few more days ;) I picked up two tins but its cheaper by the two-pack. Not a LOT cheaper but when you are stocking up it does add up ;)

I never did find the two packs, but I bought 11 tins, two of them I opened, so df gets 10 (buying one more to even it out tomorrow too lol). I think that should last us a little while ;)
