It's amazing though, how many people never leave their home country!

This IS amazing.  Also amazing is the the amount of Americans that don't have a passport. I think I remember hearing something like 20%. I have never not had a valid passport since I was born (think I came out with one).

When I do get back to visit, I find I have to watch what I say, for example if I said last week I was in Poland and that I came back via Amersterdam/Edinburgh and that we stopped by to see friends in London before coming back to the US they look at ya kinda lost, but if I had said I was in Maine last week and came back via Chicago/Memphis and that I stopped in New Orleans to see friends, no one would bat an eye.

Yeah, but I kind of have an edge--military brat followed by career as a flight attendant ;)
I have a good friend who gets her business supplies from India and she's been after me to go with her on a buying trip sometime--I hope to take her up on it one of these days.

I really didn't get much travelling in before I had kids, and my travel ambitions have been quelled at the moment. But, someday, GeetaK, definitely India!

My in-laws recently did an 'Explorer' trip to Ethiopia -- all of their photos look like something straight out of National Geographic!  We can't wait to see them & hear all their travel stories -- including MIL going out to use the toilet (ahem -- in the woods!) amongst the baboons in the middle of the night, and FIL finding a scorpion in his pants!  (Luckily, he'd not put them on yet.) :o

I think they even got a photo of Lucy! :)
