I'll probably take it to CarMax as well, as there is one really close by.  :)

I think Carmax generally gives bad deal...it's in their best interest to make a profit afterall.  I would take it to Carmax for a quote and see what they'll offer.  And then take it back there as a last resort if no one else wants to buy it.  I took mine to Carmax and they offered me nearly $2,000 less then what I wanted because it had a few minor scratches that could easily be buffed out (I was just lazy to ever have it done.)

You'll get the most for your car by listing it and selling it yourself. However, I do understand if you've got so much going on with the move that you just don't have time to deal with all of the hassle involved. But if there's any way to do it, you won't be sorry! Or else, possibly get a friend or relative to take over that chore? When I moved, a friend's husband did it all for me -- he fancies himself an auto wheeler & dealer, so he kind of enjoyed it! And it freed me up to take care of things like PETS, paperwork, movers, etc.

I sold mine to my step-dad for less money...but I could use it until the day before I left.  It worked out well.
