passports
« on: March 14, 2006, 06:18:09 PM »
I've just noticed that Jessica's passport expired 25th Jun 2006!! Her passport was issued on 2001 and it expires 5 years later..grr.

crap!! I need to get a passport for Jess. My question is she's got a leave to remain indefinate stamp on her US passport..does that mean I have to organize a new passport and then get a new indefinate stamp placed on it??

No.  You carry both the old passport with ILR and new passport.  BTW, isn't she a British citizen?

But you are married now, which I think qualifies her for a Brit passport.

Double check with Garry or Victoria, but I'm pretty sure she's eligible.  Also have a look at this thread:

no, she doesn't have to be naturalized, just apply for a British passport for her.  You'll need her long birth certificate and your marriage certificate, and possibly Phil's birth certificate, but she's good to go.   :)

I had to do that when the girls got their new passports....I had to go to London and renew their passports and then get their new ones stamped with ILR
but my situation is probably different than yours......

MeShell, you do know you don't have to have those ILR stamps replaced, right?  My son came over on a passport when he was ten and is on his second passport.  He's been in and out of the country using the old (with ILR stamp) and new passports, and has had no trouble with immigration.

Well I hadn't had them stamped and the whole Berry Gang (17 of us) went to Venice (2003) and we had a huge row at East Midlands airport with immigrations when we got back in cause the girls new passports didn't have ILR on them....mine did...

they stamped them firstly with the 6th month visitor thing and then yelled at me when they seen my ILR in my passport..why aren't they stamped? blah blah blah and just gave me a big mouthful..

so I went to the immigrations here and talked to them..he said yes I should have had them restamped....so there ya are........

or at least carried their old passports with us..but that is alot of passports to mess with!!

We are apply for a Manx passport soon anyways.... ;D

The score is that...*deep breath*...

A child born to a UK father who is not married to the mother is not automatically entitled to British Citizenship...however, it is usually granted anyway (if the child is born in the UK).

Now you are all in the UK and have married Jessica's father, she is 'legitimised' (what a Victorian term!) so you should be able to just make the passport application indeed.

Are you able to live and work in Britain on a Manx passport (if you chose to do so)?
And the world first spoke to me in Sensurround
