And no I never refridgerate pb - US or UK kind.

What is up with the 'use within 3 days of opening'?  Come on!

peanut butter in the ice box?!

what next? honey in the ice box as well....

I only recently started putting jam in the box. Don't know why...

In the states I have always put milk in the ice box but in the old days here we didn't even put the milk in the ice box but then we only got a day's consumption at a time.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

In the states  I would have refrigerated  pb and  butter and eggs..  here  I don't refrigerate those things except eggs  and  yes  Jelly (jam)    I also  didn't like that cold pb would  rip the bread.. so glad I broke from my old ways..  ;)

'ice box'?!  LOL... Bob, you make me laugh.  ;)

I remember my first winter in Scotland... i was on a coin-operated electric meter and unplugged the fridge so that my money would go further.  I hung the milk out the window in a polybag, and when i pulled it in the next morning it was frozen solid as a brick!

In the town we lived in in India they now don't have electricity just about every day from 9am until 4pm.  Guess those people who don't have fridges are laughing at those who do!  DH's aunt doesn't have one and gets her milk/yogurt every day directly as do most of the old school families.

I dont put my pb in the fridge.....when the oil would seperate would just take the knife and give it a stir....Bob's your uncle!

and I have to say that I think Reese's PB is the best..but that is just my opinion

a pint of milk was the only thing in the fridge, so i couldnt see wasting the electricity to run the fridge for just that alone!    I was pretty hard-up in those days...  This was back in my days of only being able to afford to eat ketchup sandwiches most of the week, and having a bath twice a week in the superloo at the train station.  (there was no hot water in the flat!)   :o   :)

Ahh, nostalgia!

I refrigerate PB once it's opened. It's stays perfectly spreadable.  I don't see how it would get so cold as to be unspreadable as long as you didn't stick it all the way in the back of the fridge. It's perfectly fine in the front of the fridge or in the door.

Nice terminology :)

and when i pulled it in the next morning it was frozen solid as a brick!

It used to freeze in the kitchen without putting it out ...

I also have a jar of peanut butter my sister brought from Canada (Kraft - the best PB ever!) and no where on the jar it says to refridgerate.  I think I did once and it went rancid very quickly after it cooled down.

i've had skippy here and never refridgerated it.

Big debate when we moved here between my daughter and husband was refrigeration of pb and ketchup. We have now come to buying two bottles of ketchup one for the fridge and one to keep out just to keep the peace! The pb now stays out of the fridge cause hubby doesn't eat it---although he kept pointing out that it says on the jar it needs to be kept in the fridge!
