Another one that I know to be a debate (at least in the U.S.) is whether or not to refrigerate maple syrup.  My mom always refrigerated it and then warmed it up before serving.  My husband grew up with the syrup always in the cupboard.  We're talking the fake syrup here, so I don't know if that makes a difference.  I remember my high school anthropology teacher telling us that when she got married and went grocery shopping with her husband for the first time, they got home and had their first fight over where to put the syrup.   :P

Bet I know where she really wanted to put it  :o

I don't put it in the ice box but I just checked my bottle (real stuff not the fake stuff) and it says once opened, keep refrigerated.
I treat it like honey and PB, in fact they are all the same shelf in the cupboard.

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

never put my pb in the fridge, but I have put real maple syrup in (not fake stuff like Vermont Maid or log Cabin)

It does taste better if I have it in the cupboard. I will only put it in the refrigerator if the days get too hot for the cupboard and it looks all melty or oily looking.
