Cinnabon recipe
« on: March 21, 2006, 03:49:30 PM »
I believe I read on here a few weeks ago people talking about where to get Cinnabon's in the UK.  Well, it got me hungry for Cinnabon's and so yesterday I found a recipe and made them.  They turned out excellent!  The recipe calls for baking the buns for 30 minutes at 400F degrees.  I did mine at 200C degrees and took them out at about 25 minutes because they were coming out really "golden."  I think I should have taken them out even 5 minutes earlier, but they came out surprisingly good!  They were a perfect Cinnabon fix!  Enjoy!

so...i'm getting ready to attempt this recipe.  it calls for 1.25 oz. yeast.  my yeast packets are in grams.  i did an online conversion and my 7g packet of yeast only comes to .24 oz.  assuming that...i would need 5 packets of yeast!!??  surely that's not right.

i'm gonna wing it and use just one packet and see how it turns out.  i hope i'm not setting myself up for another recipe gone wrong (i've had quite a few of them lately....)

I have a cinnabon recipe I have used for a few years and it calls for 2 packages of dry yeast if that is any help to you! :)

that's the website that i used.  each packet of yeast that i have is only 7g (just a standard packet).  so assuming the conversion is correct...i would need to use 5 packets to equal 1 1/4 oz?  that was my inital question.  5 packets of yeast for one batch of cinnamon rolls seems a bit much, dontcha think?

well...crap...i've already started the dough.  i'll give it a go with just one and see how they turn out.  i just have a hard time believing that i need to use 5 packets!!!  you only need one packet to make a loaf of bread...and sometimes not even that much!!

I don't think you are lame at all because it looked like 1.25 package of yeast.

Cool!  I've been thinking of trying it too.  Did you use US cups or British cups?

i used US.  i'm fighting using UK ones....i do good enough just using US ones.  so far all the recipes i have followed have been US recipes....so i've been in the clear.

Ah!  I only have US liquid measure cups -- no US dry measures.   >:(  That's what's preventing me from having a go.

well..is there a website that gives the conversions from US to UK cups?

there really isn't anything in the recipe that you can overdo.  i think i ended up using more of most things in the recipe...except the yeast.  i say give it a go...and let me know how yours turn out!!!

I might do that if I have time between the housework, client work and family.  I suspect I'll do another of Nigella's clementine cakes because they aren't as much fuss and I have a bunch of clemetines that need to be used up before they go bad.
