Both of us are hoarders. That's going to make moving ever so fun.

I like things tidy and straight, but am not so obsessed with clean. He likes things clean, but doesn't care if there are great tottery piles of CD's and newspapers everywhere. We've done very well cohabiting in chunks of several weeks at a time, but god knows what living together permanently will be like.

I figure we'll either complement each other wonderfully and have a warm and happy house. Or we'll live in squalor until the day we square off against each other in pitched battle. Look for news items about an American expat spanging an iron skillet off the head of her unsuspecting British spouse.

Our dust is coal dust from the fires, and there's lots of it. I don't mind, though. I love the fires too much.

Not being funny at all, I think there is more dust here in the UK.  I am not sure why that would be, though.  Maybe from not having screens in the windows?  I feel like I have to clean constantly.

i was just talking about this last night with jklm725...and then i read this today.  how weird!!

i have the same issue.  but i was thinking maybe it was related to having hardwood flooring and the dirt showing more (i've never had hardwood flooring in any of my other residences).  apparently is this country.  well...i take that back...i wonder if it's because the houses seemed to be older here (at least they are way older than where i'm from in the states).  i dunno....but i have a whole tribe of dust bunnies no matter what i do.

I noticed there was a lot more dust too. When I was home in the states, i went to Menards and bought those expandable window screen for about $2 each. I bought about 8 of them and mailed them over. (I needed something to keep the cats inside). It has worked perfectly.  My husand couldn't believe how much dirt and dust and particles got trapped on the window screens. I don't think he would want me to get rid of them now.

haha, I was thinking the same thing! It's a dirty type dust.

I have a tiny place and it's full of clutter... clothes and shoes mostly. I cut down on some clutter by requesting online bills instead of paper. I also hate junk mail so I try not to sign up for cards like Nectar and Boots. I get plenty from the former occupant!

What bothers me most is occasionally I will get a waft of something that permeates my house... perfume or cigarettes. I can't figure if it is my neighbor and we share a vent or a friendly ghost.  ;)

In Iceland we had a really super fine black volcanic dust and it had to be cleaned daily.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.
