yeah!!  Now it makes sense!  Thank you all!  I checked on the adapter that is on the plug and it says the input is 100-240V, so I'm assuming I just need an adapter then.  I appreciate your help!

Yep, just use a plug adapter or buy a U.K. power cord as appropriate, and you're all set.

I brought my CPU over and just flipped the switch on the back and slapped an adaptor on the power cord and plugged it in. I did buy a new monitor over here, though. Wanted to ge a better one anyway so the move was a good excuse.

sorry, this post is from 2 months ago, but i was wondering if you shipped it or took it with you on the plane? i was planning on doing the same but my friend who lived in london for 5 months said it wasn't a good idea to take it.  i know there's internet cafe's everywhere but i love my computer!

I think it depends on what you use your computer for, and whether you want to pay for internet access at home!
For example, I use my computer for illustration and graphic design, so even if I left this one behind (which I'm not going to. love my machine. *cuddles*) I'd buy another as soon as I'd gotten there. If you're a student, then laptops are really handy to use in classes, and then you can take it to the cafe and write your papers. :)
I'm shipping my desktop machine by sea, and taking my laptop on the airplane...

Um. I'm shipping it with all the rest of my crap stuff, which is about $10 per cubic foot.

Sorry for the delayed response but I haven't been around much lately. I brought it with me on the plane and glad I did. I hate getting a new computer....it takes so long to get it set up and tweaked just the way I like it. I figured that I'd have enough adjustments to make without adding computer frustration to the list. I did have problems buying a new monitor (Dell UK SUCKS!!!!) but that's another story and my blood pressure hasn't gone down enough for me to retell the story....even though it's been almost three months!

pssst! Stay away from PC World, too! Had a nightmarish experience with them trying to buy a monitor....that's why I resorted to Dell UK....I was pretty shafted all the way around!  >:(

I moved my desktop (in a large tower case) and server here.  I put the tower into a cardboard box filled with packing peanuts.  It made it in one piece, although the airline charged me a fortune for the extra "bag."

The server was simply put into my suitcase and padded with clothing.  When customs inspected it they bent the disk cage! Bastards. That was a $100 case they ruined!
