They are only allowed to pass so many ppl. Try and get a morning appointment so you're not stuck w/ the end of their quota and they fail you for something stupid. Hopefully you'll get a different examiner next time. I think I passed b/c i had a better examiner, NOT from my area, she had just moved there :) By the way, took me 3 times.

Are you sure? The DSA says they have no quotas.

My exam was at 11:40 so it wasn't late in the day.

Not looking forward to taking this again. :(

Sorry, I had heard there was some sort of system, maybe I am wrong.

I didn't look forward to another test either. It's so darn stressful!!! It just takes everythign out of you. The good thing is now, you can relax and not think about it again until the day before to get all of your documents in order.

try and forget about it now and then by the time it comes up again you'll be ready to take it on again.

Most of all - it's luck and I wish you the best of luck!

That stinks, Michelle. Still, at least you know it was just kind of a fluke that you failed -- I mean you know and the examiner knows that you're good enough to pass.

What about booking a lesson immediately before the test? That's what I did, and I think it sort of calmed me down and got me in the right frame of mind to be "judged" by the person sitting next to me.

That's what I did this time and I will be doing that again. I'll probably book a lesson for the day before as well.

Michelle,

I am sure you will be able to pass.....just focus on the basics, and try to be calm during your test.  Don't worry too much, it will just prove to make you too stressed....

I am sorry to hear about your test, but I am confident you will pass!

Don

Sorry to hear you didnt pass today... but best of luck for next time!
Its encouraging that they didnt feel you needed any more lessons.  :)

It took me 2 tries as well...  at least you completely know what to expect next time, so probably wont even be nervous!

Sorry to hear about it Michelle but so many of us were in the same boat.  You will pass you will see.  They honestly do have a very high fail rate here.

Good thing is that it was minors so probably due to nerves.

Just seeing this now, sorry you didn't make it the first time Michelle but I am crossing my fingers you will have better luck this time. Heck I failed my drivers test the first time in the states  ::) :-[ The second time was a charm as it will be for you. Good luck!

The idea of there being a quota seems to be one of those "urban myths" which crops up regularly.

Bad luck on the fail, but keep at it and you'll get there.     Look on the bright side: I knew a local instructor where I lived some years back and he told me about one of his students who got flustered and made a real mess of the three-point turn.  She went forward across the road, failed to stop quite in time and hit a tree.  Then during the next part of the maneuver she backed into a lamp-post on the other side of the road.    Oops!   :-[

Thanks, everyone.

I've got another exam booked for April 18th. I am going to take a lesson with my instructor the day before and the hour before the test. But, I've also decided to book one lesson with a different instructor before then just to get another person to critique my driving. I just don't know what to think about my instructor never mentioning my clearance to me. The examiner also mentioned that I sort of weave in and out of parked cars a bit... like, I come behind a car and go around it. I do tend to do that if there are cars parked with large gaps in between because to me it made sense to stay on my side of the road as much as possible but I wasn't supposed to be doing that. I've done that with my instructor on every single lesson and she's never mentioned it. So, I think one lesson with a different instructor may be a good idea.

i'm really sorry you didn't pass.  very frustrating.  i'd be cautious about taking a lesson with another instructor.  if you want to do a mock test with them, then i think that would be a good idea.  but i'm not sure i'd start messing with practiced routines like maneuvers, etc.  consistency when i was learning was the only way i passed. good luck on april 18th!

That's a good point. I've got all the maneuvers down and I'm not looking for help with them at all. I really just want the other instructor to look at my clearance from parked cars and how I go about moving around them. I'll see if I can go over that with them and then run through a mock test. Thanks.

Ugh, Sorry. You know they say the pass rate is only 43% I just passed my theory test, looking to take a few lessons to unlearn some things. I don't expect to pass the practical with ease. I think it's unnecessarily difficult to get a license here.
