Ill have to give that a try then, im open to anything
Im not sure where you might find it that way in the UK, but in the US some restaurants do make theirs in house.
I make mine by using hellmans (ie real mayo, not miracle whip, salad dressing whatever you want to call it) with sour cream...depending on how you like it, if youre in the UK Id maybe suggest getting creme fraiche, as the sour cream seems a bit thin here. Tastes the same, just thinner for some reason. I also add garlic powder, onion powder, salt and dried or fresh parsley. You can obviously tweak it to your own tastes, such as peppercorn etc. I use a bit more sour cream than mayo usually, I dont have exact measurements unfortunately, I just mix and match until it tastes the way I want..but basically you dont want to have too strong of a sour cream or mayo taste, youd want it somewhat balanced. IMO

Its really simple, and once its done you just refrigerate for at least an hour to let all the flavors blend. Good stuff

I find that a lot of times the ranch from the supermarket is too tangy, sometimes it has a weird texture etc.
