Pensions
« on: April 04, 2006, 05:09:06 PM »
Got a question here... I am here under ILR as the spouse of someone present and settled in the uk.

I have been told that I can work in the uk, however i am liable for both UK and USA taxes.
I am not eligible for any public fund, and this includes NHS
I have also been told that I will not have a pension, but I am still taxed for this.. is this correct?

Thank you
It takes a special kind of stupid to do what I do.

The pension contributions you make to National Insurance are covered under the US/UK Totalization Agreement.  You needn't contribute a life-time to take a pension; however, you will get a prorata pension adjusted for the number of years you do end up working over here.  It may not amount to much when all is said and done, but that is not he same as not being entitled to one in the first place.
