What football team do you support?
« on: April 05, 2006, 12:13:39 PM »
I was just wondering what football team you, your family, or SO support?  And why do you support that team?

Liverpool FC. The greatest club in the world, you only have to go to a home game and you'll see all the flags, the banners, the scarves, etc. You don't get at any other ground. YNWA

Me: Liverpool. Why is a long stupid story.

DH: Queens Park Rangers. Since he was a tiny boy.

Me & Son #1:  Chelsea because of a certain little Italian wizard, and at one time, they were our local club.

Hubby:  Sunderland because it was his boyhood club and his home.

However, hubby and I enjoy watching other teams and indeed other leagues.

Yes you do!
You get it at Ibrox Park!  :)

I support Rangers FC... when i first arrived in the UK 20 years ago, i chose Rangers because it was my local  club.  I lived in Copland Road, Midlock Street, and Paisley Road West in Ibrox.  If you know Glasgow at all, you will know that if you live in that area, supporting Rangers is a way of life.  :)

I married into a Rangers-mad family, and we also had our wedding reception at Ibrox Park.

"The Hammers" (West Ham) cause that's the team my DH supports, because that's the team his father supported. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Ipswich Town, it's Rich's home town favourite. (I kind of feel I should be loyal)

Soccer AM crack me up... Occasionally they will have an American band or actor on the programme, who is not interested in football.   They make them pick a team... they put the names of all the teams (i think its only English leagues) in a hat, and the actor/band has to choose a team to be 'their team'.   They're always reminded that once you choose a team, that team is yours for life.  :)

I saw them do that a few weeks ago.  I think the guy got stuck with Rotherham.

I remember DH telling me that a band actually played a benefit gig for the football team that they drew out of the hat.  I think it may have been The Bravery playing for Wolverhampton?

I'll have to say that I'm an Arsenal supporter because they're DH's favourite, so we'll definitely be glued to our TV tonight!   :)  When he was younger, though, he was a crazy Rangers fan, and he comes from a Rangers-mad family.

In our house, I have to either root for them all or stay neutral--

Son #1- Tottenham
Son #2- Liverpool
Son #3- Chelsea
Son #4- Leeds
Hubby - Chelsea

Hubby and I still keep up with all of them now that we are in the states, thanks to Fox Soccer Channel (side note- DH has a right laugh listening to the American commentators doing the EPL show- they are hell bent on calling all the teams by their mascots, and use 'strange' references to moves, etc...amongst other things)

Raith Rovers (Uncle used to play for them)
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

well, i suppose I just go along with what my husband likes as i don't care so much either way. My husband supports Southampton but that is because its where he grew up
