Taking Brit to a Baseball game! Help!
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:19:41 PM »
I'm taking Jamie to see a Phillies game in July. Right now I'm just adding things up since some of my family is going to come with us. I'm not sure where the best place to sit is.
Here is a map of the stadium

When I went, I sat in Section 131, right behind the visitors' dugout. But I had my eye on a certain Arizona Diamondback! ;)

I was thinking about that area! I want to get really good seats. Thanks.

Hey, that is exactly where I was going to say to sit.  I love being behind third, it's a great view.

Those seats are nice there - and a good view to center field where there is a giant liberty bell that lights up at home runs and fireworks blast out from behind it. It's a great stadium - delish food selections!

Have a fab time! Go Phils!

Whenever I've been to a Cardinals game, I always try to get either 1st or 3rd base line seats.   The view is the best and you won't be fighting the sun.

Also, they are prime foul ball catching areas!!!

I hope you both have a great time!

Hands down, the best seats in any ballpark are behind home plate (sections A-G) if available and you can afford them.  Otherwise, anywhere else from 114-133.

Oh, I totally disagree!!! And I'm a baseball nut who had season tickets for 12 years (and, yes, I went every night). There's usually a net behind homeplate which obstructs the view. Also, the angle from the pitcher to home plate head on isn't great. I always think it's better to be either slightly down the first or third baseline. ;D

The best tickets I've had at Camden Yards have been right near the front by the 3rd or 1st baseman.
Sometimes right near the front in left field is good if they're hitting lots of homers.

Don't forget to tell him about striking out on a foul ball bunt on 2 strikes or tagging up or the balk rule or ...  ::)
I seem to have to explain some strange rule to my wife every so often and she's been to number of O's games!

::)  Have you ever sat in seats behind/near the plate?

Certainly you don't want to be directly behind the umpire/catcher but to the sides, between the on-deck circle and home plate is a better angle than anywhere else to watch the game.  You can see the movement on the pitch from this angle and feel in the game as the plays unfold in front of you.  You can see where the ball goes to on any play.  You also are close to the players taking their practice swings/warm-up before batting.  Where are the most expensive tickets in any park?

I've sat directly behind the plate many times -- those are the free tickets they give away to players' families and friends. Free for a reason!

But, yes, you're right -- the seats near the on deck are good. I've sat there too!

When I'd go to Camden Yards we'd get the most crappiest seats, way up top. Then around the 2nd inning,we'd see what seats were empty down below. We got some good seats that way  ;D

The best one I got was  front row right near the outfield.I had a great view of Brady Andersons bum  ;)
