good site for students

I stumbled across this site.  It looks like a good resourse for people planning to come to the UK as students.   :)

Here is another important website:

http://www.ukcosa.org.uk/pages/advice.htm

It's the UK Council for International Education's website and it pretty much answers any question you may have about coming over as a student.
had a bit of a wobble.

I came across this quite by accident and thought it might be helpful for those completely unfamiliar with UK housing.

www.accommodationforstudents.com

If not for actually getting a place - then certainly for shopping and getting ideas of where to start and what to expect.
Ironically I spend four months searching for a site like this and never found one....then just when I'm not looking for it.....
I hope it helps someone ;D

I didn't intend for the double post...(it has been 7 months since I posted this thread)

BUT, I found this in a search from 2003 and thought it should be here.

A forum (with wikipedia pages) on UK universities.  Not a place to get official information on visas or studying, but it's good for when you want a student's opinion on where you are thinking about studying, pictures of accomodation, and other stuff that you just wouldn't find on an official website.
The chances are there's a reason we've been left here, but I'm not disappointed.  - Idlewild

I have to highly recommend this website. It answered a lot of serious questions I had, in particular issues with health care. It really eased my mind on some issues.

If, having looked through the UKCISA site, you have further questions about how the information on their site applies to your individual situation, they have a student helpline which is open 1300 to 1600 London time every weekday.  It's a UK (London) number.  Details on the site.

Please note they don't answer questions about academic matters or individual colleges, just about the practicalities like immigration, fees and funding, etc.

I should declare my interest, I work on the helpline some days.

The UK Council for International Student Affairs, mentioned above, is now tweeting useful info for students, with links to detailed guidance.  Recent topics include:

* Can I become a 'home' fee payer after starting my course as an 'overseas' fee payer?

* Can I work while I wait for a decision on my Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) application?

* Most students are exempt from paying Council Tax, but you still need to let your local borough know you are a student
