Help Needed for Moving Partner to the UKou
« on: April 09, 2006, 12:25:47 AM »
Hi,

I'm looking for some help to move my partner over here! She hopes to move here within the next year, and we'll be getting married here. I have a few questions:

1. I believe we need a home with just ourselves and our household in? We are planning to live with my parents to start with until get settled. Does this count?

2. How long does the process take to get the visa for her to move here?

3. Anything else I should know?

Thanks!

Mike

Hi and welcome to UKY.  You can probably find an answer to all of those questions by reading through the forums on this site, but there's also lots of friendly people on here that can help.  Good luck!

You don't need a home to yourselves. That is a misleading internet myth that is floating around.  Living with your parents is fine as long as you have evidence they own the home and allow it, or that their landlord allows it if you are renting.  You also need to show there is enough room.

A fiancee visa can take between one and 10 days, depending on if they need to interview.

Hi, I'm a little concerned about your above statement

I rent a studio flat, although a little cramped it would suffice myself and my soon-to-be-husband for the first couple of months until he's been in work for a while and we can afford a bigger place.

What kind of proof would i have to provide?

A studio flat is fine as long as there are only two of you.
