Microchip registration-UK address..
« on: April 09, 2006, 11:04:47 PM »
Am I supposed to change my dog's microchip registration information (address, phone #, etc..) to my UK information?  How did you go about doing that?

My vet here did it for me. But you can also log onto the web site of your microchip manufacturer. There should be information there on how to update your address.

But, did you update your address before you left, or after you moved?

After I moved. I don't know when you're supposed to do it, but there was so much going on with the move that it didn't even occur to me to do it until after I'd settled in here a bit.

I actually know this because I enquired about it about a month ago with a vet here.  For information call Annabase on 1904 487 600 on how to register your pet that has been microchipped from the states.
But what they told me is  to send details of your pet i.e. breed, color, age, to the address listed below with a £5 administration fee for each animal being registered.  They will want your old address (in states) as well as your now permanent address in the UK.  The company is called Indetichip (make cheques payable to them) and send to:

Identichip
PO Box 33
York

But, Sarah, isn't that only if your microchip is an Identichip brand chip? My cat has a HomeAgain microchip. Uber_Yank, what brand does your dog have?

The best way to update ... and to find out WHEN to update ... is to Google the brand of your own microchip. Their website will tell you exactly what to do and when to do it.

My dog has a HomeAgain microchip as well.  For those of you that flew into the UK with a dog that had a HomeAgain microchip, which airport did you fly into?
I'm trying to find out if Manchester has a reader for a HomeAgain microchip.

I flew into Heathrow, so I can't answser specifically about Manchester. However, if Manchester is on the PETS approved airport list, then they should have an international microchip reader, so I can't imagine you'd have a problem. There isn't a specific reader for each brand of chip, but there are international readers -- and HomeAgain chips can be read by those.

No, I actually just called them right now and they said it doesn't matter what brand of chip you have as this is a national database. She said there are about 4 major chip brands but they register them all.  She did give me a few extra details they want.
Date of insertion on pet
what species
their name
breed
DOB
color
sex
if they are neutered or spayed
any conditions they may have

They want your details as I listed below including your email address. She actually told me since this is a new registration there wouldn't be a charge and they would note it as a pet that was chip abroad.

Feel free to just ring them. They are quite friendly!

Thanks for this Sarah.  Sent off the registration today!  My kitty is dying to go outside (supervised) so I've been getting her stuff in order.  I should have done it months ago.  spent 77 pounds at the vet yesterday!  And one more booster to go!   Yes, I love my kit-kat!

Read this as your kitty weighed 77 lbs at the vet yesterday!  :o

(Think I've got it now, though....)
