FL >> KY >> Dover >> Sandwich
« on: December 29, 2003, 10:29:34 AM »
Hi all!  Just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm American and DH is British.  After him moving to me and giving it a try in the U.S., we decided to give it a try here and moved over in May of this year to Dover (living with in-laws).  We just moved to Sandwich, Kent this month.  I'm 30, DH is 32, and we have three daughters: age 9 (who stayed with my parents in Kentucky for the time being  [smiley=sad2.gif] ) and identical twins age 2.  I think I'm FINALLY adjusting to living here.  Any other Southeast Kent people out there?

Hi Casey!
I too have a child who decided to stay back in the States with his dad while my daughter and I moved here, So I sympathize with your sad face “smiley”.
Lucky for me, he is here now for a nice long visit! He loves to visit here but is totally content living with his dad in the States! Anyway, Welcome to UKY!

Welcome to the site Casey.  Best of luck to you in your new home.  Must be really great (no matter how great your inlaws are) to have your own space.  Congratulations on twins.  My brother has twins too.  It wasn't easy and they had lots of help.  The twins are now 21.  You sure do learn alot from twins!  Hope you're all doing well.

  Hiya Casey

Welcome to UKY  :)  Iam from Kentucky myself and me and my hubby are moving back to the UK in March-May.Sorry I will be living in the North East this time not any where near Kent.
I know that we have some Kent people here though  :)

Congrats on having your new place,as Kizmet said, there is nothing like having your own place. Its one of the first steps in adjusting to living in a new place, esp a new country. It can help you feel like you belong more where you are ;)

Welcome aboard Casey.  I've got 3 daughters that stayed back in the US when I moved here.  I can certainly empathise.

Hope you find what you need here!

Hi! Welcome, I'm pretty new myself! I'm moving to Canterbury in a few weeks so not too far away.

Hi Casey!  Welcome!  :)

There's a couple of us from the Kentucky area.  I lived near Bowling Green before moving here, myself.  Now living in London so not too awfully far from you!

Congrats on getting your own place.  I'm sure that will make a big difference in how you view things here.  Sounds like you've got your hands full with twins and moving, adjusting to a whole new life, etc.  Hope the Holidays were good for you!

Again, welcome to the site and hope to see you around lots more.   :D

Thanks for all of the welcomes!   :)

To those of you from Kentucky...we moved this past May from Harrodsburg (Kentucky's "oldest settlement").  I've also lived in Bowling Green (when I was at Western Kentucky in the early 90's), Newport (when I was working in Cincinnati) and Lexington.  My parents and oldest daughter live in Harrodsburg, as well as my brother and his wife and kids.

And to ncjenuk...Canterbury is such a great place!  I wish we could have moved there but Sandwich is a nice place, too.  Canterbury is by far my favorite place here in the Southeast, though.  The cathedral is amazing...I really can't do it justice with words.  The High Street is great for shopping; lots of good restaurants; lots of supermarkets; pretty much anything you could want.

Again, thanks for the welcomes!!
