Pickle relish
« on: December 30, 2003, 01:12:17 PM »
Another grocery shopping challange from Stu... where can we find pickle relish? I am sure I've seen it somewhere but can't remember where. Our local Sainsbury's (which is a huge one) doesn't have it.  Any hints gratefull received as always ...

You mean like sweet pickle relish to go on hot dogs?

I think I've seen it at the larger Sainsbury's we shop in, but not the smaller one off the High Street.  Check the condiments sections - like where the mustards and apple sauces are.  Or even in the section with olives and whole pickles?  I think it's in one of those over the frozen food bins.

That said, I like the Hamburger Relish that Lidl sells!

When I  worked in the restautrant business and we ran out of relish I would put pickle slices in a food processor and chop them up till you had relish. Same thing really.

Thanks for the tips, yes I might just try mulching some in the food processor. I did look in all those places in our Sainsburys but no luck, they had onion relish, tomato relish even sweetcorn relish but no green dill pickle relish, maybe they were just sold out. Of course I could have asked one of the umpteen teenage shelf packers that were lounging about  but somehow I knew what the answer would be ("if it's not there we don't have it")
