Entry Clearance Visa - What next??
« on: April 18, 2006, 09:49:16 PM »
Hi..I married a Norwegian living in London, was given an entry clearance visa which is due to expire in a couple of months. I have started to look into what to do next/which visa to apply for. If anyone of you could help guiding me in the right direction I would be grateful.   Thanks   :)

What was the purpose for your entry clearence visa, it will have an effect on what you can apply for from within the UK.

You are an EEA national, so you have the same rights as EU nationals in terms of freedom of movement of labour.  You can apply for a resident card if you want to, but you don't have to.  IT depends on your other circumstances and whether you are looking at getting UK citizenship in the future.

Victoria, reading what you said made me realize, is "amnor" a British National married to a Norwegian or a US national married to a Norwegian?  I just assumed that most people in this forum had some tie to the US...  Also, is "amnor" talking about their status or their spouses...

Victoria, I'm assuming that Amnor is a non-EU national that married an EEA (Norwegian) national. If that is the case, Amnor, you will need to apply for Further Leave To Remain which is valid for 2 years. You can download the form FLR (M) from the UK Home office website or you can ring the Home Office and have them send it to you via post. When your 2 year FLR draws to an end, you will then be eligible for permenant residency.
