A little update:
Sent off the form for the police report/background check on January 6th. Received confirmation that they received the request on January 9th and received the completed report on January 17th! That was PDQ!
Now we just need to hear back from the Embassy!
Yvonne - any updates? Let us know how you are - been missing you!

Hi Melissa,

Not much to update from other than what I told you in my IM the other day.  Just waiting for the certificates to come back for the UK and Belgium.  So we can send the forms back to the Embassy, get our interview and say Seeyaaaaaa London, adios, ciao, etc.

Thanks Melissa for asking..  :)

I thought I'd post to say what a wonderful board/thread this is! ;D  :-*

The DCF Spousal visa process is shrouded in mystery  ??? - even the Embassy website is pretty poor on setting out what to do from A-Z.

I check a few different boards each day, and although this isn't one of the most usedboards, it is certainly the most informative!!

After about a year of lurking on these boards, we eventually decided to go for it after being in US for Thanksgiving, and we sent of our I130 and DS230 Part 1 recently.  We received the "Notice of Approval of Relative Immigrant Visa Petition" today, so now we're just waiting for the interview date (Police Certificate already received and arm of Joint Sponsor twisted to send us his docs).

We're moving to Texas, initially living in Winne, which is east of Houston (about an hour's drive from City).  I'll post a message on the introductions board soon - just to say hello to everyone - but felt a need to post on this thread first - which has become the site I check first every day when I get home to see if any new info has been provided.

One question someone may be able to help with - on my Notice of Approval, I don't have a File Number.  Does this come later?

Hi John and welcome. To answer your question from my experience.  I also received our NOA several weeks ago with no file number as well.  I emailed the embassy at  LondonConsular@state.gov (here in London) and asked them to forward my case number.  VIOLA!!  I received a quick response.  A couple of days after that we received the Packet 3 with a letter attached - and duly noted in black and white was our Case Number...  :D

Good luck to you.

Just received Glen's police certificate today.  Next stop getting the Belgium background done.

Whew!
We must all have the same vibe going on here. I was beginning to get a little concerned that we didn‘t have a case number yet. I will e-mail the embassy after this message!
Thanks for the update and nice to meet you John!!!

I got an answer to my e-mail today. They provided me with our case number and the following message:

Your husband's application is currently undergoing the appropriate administrative processing and we cannot yet schedule a date for his formal visa interview and medical examination. (not that I asked that question - but there ya go)

Just as soon as the processing is completed we will contact your husband with a date.

Oh I can not wait to get that letter!!

I received my official letter confirming my appointment today  :D

Our timeline is/was as follows:

November/December 2003 - Police Certificate requested.  Received on 6 January
29 January - Sent off I130/G325 etc and DS230/DS2001.  Thanks to this thread/Forum, we found out these could be posted at the same time. I think this speeded up the process a lot. I even used Marsbar's letters as a basis for our letters/enclosures
6 February - received notice that Petition had been approved on 4 Feb.
25 Feb - in a response to an email re. our case number, received an email from Embassy - visa appt on 29 March.
26 Feb - received "packet 4" info about appt and medical etc.

We prepared in advance of sending the petition, by requesting Police Cert, but from the date we sent off the Petition, it will be exactly 2 months time elapsed by the interview date.

This thread/forum is great!  Definately helped us - so hopefully will also help others.

2 months! That's awesome John!
I'm planning on requesting the police certificates and sending all the stuff together (the I-130's, G325s, DS230 & DS2001)  to speed the process up - - - glad to hear it actually DOES speed things up! :)
So happy for you. :)
