Stay at home mom
« on: January 02, 2004, 01:36:57 AM »
We are hoping to move to the Uk in the spring and since my daughter was born I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay at home with her. We  are hoping for another child in the future, how commom is it to find other stay at home mothers, are there groups such as the moms club like here in the USA.

                                                              Thanks

I'm not a parent myself, but in my experience, at least here in London....there are probably *more* single income households here than in the US.  There are lots of mother's groups around as well.  Where is it you are planning to move to in the UK?  There's a vast difference in resources for these sorts of things in larger cities compared to villages, etc.

We are hoping to get to some where around Chester, but really we are not quite sure. The  job my husband takes  will be the determining factor as to where we live but It is sure nice to know that there are alot of stay at home moms as well. Thank you for sharing your information .                                        Cad

I'm a stay-home Mom, as is my best friend in the UK, (Devon) and I know there are several free toddler/baby/Mommy groups there.  Your pediatrician may know of some, or you can check the council office for listings.  I'll ask her how she found the ones she was in.
Good luck!

I live in a small city, and the only mother's group I know about is run by a local church and is really, really active. So depending on how you feel about the churches, that might also be a good place to hook up.
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

It's so nice to know that there are alot of us in the Uk. What do you do with your kids during the day? Do you have play groups or a preschool you go to. Are there alot of activities available for a three year old child to do?

It seems like my friend os forever just going to or teturning from the park, the town, the woods, the leisure center, something.
So it seems to me there's a lot to do.
