What goes with pasta? (veg)

Im wondering what to serve with pasta? My df doesnt like salad, and thts what I would usually do, pasta, salad and garlic bread.

I need some sort of veg to go with it, but Im at a bit of a loss

DF suggested I put mixed veg into the pasta itself, but I dont think that would go so well with my sauce. And he certainly wouldnt like what sounds good to me...mashed potatoes

Yeah mashed potatoes doesn't make sense - pasta is a starch and so are potatoes.  You could just do a side of slightly boiled vegetables like fresh carrots, zucchini, squash, etc.?

If you're doing a red sauce, you could put courgette, mushrooms, peppers, etc. in with it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same as Geetak, but was wondering about the sauce.

Or how about those fancy tiny vegetables - baby squash, carrots, etc?  I love those things but never buy them.  On second thought, they're probably expensive!

Are you vegeterian? Roasted red peppers, stuffed with mince, or if you're a vegeterian stuffed with something else, with some of the pasta sauce dribbled on top. I love stuffed peppers.

green beans are good with everything! or put chopped spinach in the sauce - that woud go well in most pasta sauces

Great ideas everyone DF is sooo picky, he wont eat stuffed peppers, but I love em myself.

I decided I wanted the potatoes too much to go with pasta tonite, and in the end I got an invitation to have dinner with the parents tonite, so I wont be cooking! Yay! hehe Getting roast chicken with mash and veggies, sounds good to me, df just needs an entree and we are set

But I still want to have pasta tomorrow, so I will take all these ideas with me to the store Dont worry I will not make mashed potatoes tomorrow hehe

Broccoli always goes with pasta no mater the sauce.

mushrooms
broccoli
asparagus
tomatoes
green beans
