Uk jobs
« on: January 05, 2004, 04:28:14 PM »
My husband and I are hoping to come over to the UK . Both of our parents were born and raised in the UK so we would like to go back to our roots and live a little a  more cultured life for a while. We have no problem with work visa because of our parents we are able to get them fairly easily. My husband has a very good above average job as an engineer here in the states. He has been trying to find jobs on-line to apply to and has gotten some response, we were hoping to be able to come over to a job. How realistic is this, does anyone have any experiences to share as to getting an interview on-line.

What kind of engineering does he do?

Not what my husband does then. :) He's been looking for another engineering job in the UK for ages and ages (he's a controls engineer, plc/robot programmer for the auto industry) - but in that specific field it's a much, much better playing field in the States. Lots of his friends are engineers in different fields, and they don't seem to have much problem getting jobs, but they always complain about the pay, cost of living etc... perhaps your husband coming in with more experience etc. will have an upper hand in the situation...  (sorry I wasn't much help!)
