Another Silly Question
« on: January 06, 2004, 10:07:24 AM »
I noticed that a lot of you bring banks statements when applying for your visa, do you need bank statements from both parties? And what do they consider a sufficient amount of money? does anyone know someone that was turned downed because didn't have that much money saved?

When I got my fiancee visa I provided bank statements for both of us. Mine was pathetic, and his wasn't brilliant, but all they really wanted to say were his paystubs to know that he actually *made* enough to support us both. We were living with his parents at the time (we had to show the deed to their house!) - otherwise they would have wanted to know about his mortgage (they asked if he had one, but he obviously didn't) ... As for actual figures, I don't really have any idea, sorry. :(
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

i only brought bank statements from my husband's account, as i haven't had an account for a while, and when i did, there wasn't much in it...  lol.  i am not sure how much money they consider to be sufficient, though.  i guess that would depend on how much money you spend on your rent/house payment, etc.

if you both have accounts, you should probably bring statements to show that.  the more money that you can show them that you have/can make, the better.  basically, they want to make sure that you won't end up sucking money off of the government's funds and stuff like that. (i.e. whatever welfare is called in England...)

also, a letter from your sponsor's(your husband/wife's) employer is needed by the Consulate.  in this letter, they should state how long the sponsor has been employed by them, how much money they currently make, and plans for the future with the company.  (this shows financial stability.)

are you applying for a marriage or fiancĂ© visa?  from personal experience, (and also from what i hear...) the marriage visa seems to be a less complicated process than the fiancĂ© visa.
