One thing I noticed is there is a distinct difference between asking for ketchup and tomatoe sauce. For the longest time I couldn't fathom why anyone would want tomatoe sauce (as I know it). But I realized it is basically a generic, watery ketchup pastey gloop. That's the stuff that I can't stand. Sorry, but it's Heinz all the way for me!

Tomato sauce is just another name for ketchup.  A lot of people call Heinz tomato suace.   The cheap stuff is just cheap stuff that resturants use to save money.

Weird!
I think that Hellmans tastes like Hellmans, no matter where you go!

We didnt even have Hellmans in California when i left... it was called Best Foods, but i think it's the same stuff.  Even the label looks very similar.

I never noticed a difference in taste.  We use Heinz Organic.

so were the ads... they are the same, just like Dryer's is Edy's on the East coast.

my old observation about ketchup here (Heinz) was it was more liquidy even when I shook it up. In the states I never used squeeze bottle things so I figured it was just less solid for that reason.

I just bought squeeze mayo  :o Oh, I am so old fashioned... I like my stuff in jars better.

squeeze mayo just grosses me out for some reason, especially cause it comes out in like a ribbon type thing or something.  :-\\\\

you're JOKING!

I read about it in a trade journal all about product packaging (a friend subscribes for her business). It isn't in shops yet, but it's coming! They're keeping the same general shape of the original Marmite jar, but it'll be sort of upside down -- if that makes sense.

Sacrilege.

The  Heinz in the upside down bottles is without a doubt thinner, stick to the proper ones when you can get them.

I would bet my life that the packets of ketchup in McDonalds are way more sugary than in the US and they are made by Heinz!   I find it odd too because the British like vinegar on chips so much it seems that the ketchup would be more geared toward that taste instead of tasting like a mouthful of sugar.   The Heinz ketchup out of a normal bottle from the grocery store tastes just the same as the Heinz in the US though.

Since March, apparently, but today's the first time I'd seen it! On the plus side, they claim they're not going to phase out the old-style jars. Whew! ;)
