If you google "how to use bidet" you can get some pretty graphic instructions.  :o

Don't worry! It's not all houses in the UK. In fact, I was born here and have now lived here 3 years and still haven't seen what's been described here! Maybe it's a London thing? Or maybe it's in city houses that are smaller with less room to build on? The houses where I am are very old and definitely weren't built with indoor plumbing, but because we're out in the country I think people have been able to build large-ish extensions. Is that a possible theory? Honestly, I've never seen a loo without a sink in the same room in this country (although I have in France)!

I've lived in this country (in various suburbs) in 3 or 4 bedroom houses for 50 years and never lived in a house that did have a sink in the same room as a loo. Like Victoria's family, we all grew up without being stricken down with terrible diseases, and my own children have grown up just as healthy. Never even been on antiobiotics.

Some of them actually have a place to put your feet.  I guess I am in the minority, as I would rather use one of these and have dirty shoes- then sit my bottom on a seat where who knows who with who knows what has been sitting.  Filthy.

Your shoes are filthy anyway, let's face it.

Ahhhh, a fan of what we affectionately call the Turkish toilet.
Amen...ANY DAY!

Also, honestly.. how many people don't flush or touch the taps before washing their hands?  You think going into another room is any grosser?

If it bothers you so much carry wet wipes... I do.

Good point...although I will say that many of us (me included) never sit their bottom on a public seat...... ;)

Hands up anyone else who is thinking of Carry On At Your Convenience?   ;)

"I don't see the point of them.  You can always wash your feet in the bath."

"They're not for washing your feet."

"What then?"

Whispers in ear.....

"Get away?!    Well, you could always stand on your head under the shower then!"

I've experienced my first seperate bathroom and shower in South Wales this past weekend... it was just so odd.  I can see how it would be useful but it just felt wrong walking out of the room with the toilet to go to another room to wash my hands.

BTW, do you realise that your desk top has more germs than a public toilet seat?
