I love Rachael Ray (Even though I find her annoying) in the states.

Hallelujah!  I thought I was the only person on the planet that wants to throttle her.  BTW... she's got a line of (really vile) olive oil she's introducing soon in the States.  The line is actually called "E.V.O.O."  Puh-lease! ::)

He's got that BAD BOY thing going for him!  :D

Tell me about it! :D  Even my husband has a bit of a crush on him...

Cannot resist Jean-Christophe - I'll make, bake, or wear anything he asks. [smiley=smitten.gif]

Oh, uh... all time favorite for various reasons:  THE GALLOPING GOURMET!!!  Still love Graham Kerr.  [smiley=chef.gif]

I like Gordon Ramsay and Anthony Bourdain just for thier bad boy appeal.  ;D

For actual recipes I like Alton Brown (I learn a lot from his shows) and Nigella. I used to like Jamie Oliver but he gets on my nerves now and so does Tyler Florence. They just seem kind of cocky now or something and not in that bad boy appealing way. :P

Graham Kerr! That's it. His later shows weren't quite as entertaining as the earlier ones where he seemed to be drinking himself blind while cooking, though.

I agree about Rick Stein as well - he just seems like an all-around nice guy. (although, I always wanted Rockford to be my dad . . . ;D)

Sad thing is, I rarely get around to making anything any of these chefs make. To me it's almost like watching someone paiting (Bob Ross, anyone?) . . . I just really enjoy the creative aspect of it.
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

For actual recipes, I love Nigella.  I LOVE watching cooking shows -- grew up with Julia Child, The Frugal Gourmet, and Floyd (on Fish!).  I'll usually stop what I'm doing to watch Nigella and Delia (even though she's a bit boring) and I love Gordon Ramsay, but more for Kitchen Nightmares than for his cooking.  Definitely also a fan of Alton Brown!

Cannot STAND Gary Rhodes -- he's too precise with everything...far too anal.  And he never stops saying "literally" and "actually".  ("You're going to literally take the chicken and actually put it on the plate --literally beside the actual runner beans."  :P)

This really made me laugh.

Make that two of us who share that op. of GR.  He's always slagging off other chefs, too.

I really enjoy Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage series, but that more about his quirkiness than about the food he serves.

Oh, I got so into that show! We downloaded it off UK Nova and burned in onto DVD. I ended up passing in onto a friend, and she passed it on... A lot of friends in Ann Arbor ended up watching it and loving it--their teenage kids, too!

I don't know how much of a celebrity he is...which is probably why I like him (for being almost an anti-celebrity) but I do like Nigel Slater.  He does the regular food section in the Sunday Observer, but I don't think he's on TV -- is he?  I admire him for being low-key and relaxed, IMO.  I watched The Frug ages ago, but just have trouble getting into all the (overly?) hyped-up TV chef-personalities.  And I prefer recipes I can use in everyday life vs really fancy things with a million ingredients -- I get tired just watching that! :P

I'm not sure, but I have a couple of his cookbooks and they're really good!

I got Steve The Kitchen Diaries for Christmas & we are really enjoying it.  Slater also published a bio in the last 2-3 years called Toast that we bought for BIL a year or two ago -- I'd be interested to read that.

Speaking of celebrity chefs....
Someone forwarded this to hubs today... along with the ENTIRE cookbook, Naked Chef 2
Seriously...all the recipes.   :o

Jamie Oliver's new cook book for free!
How good is this.....
Cook book = £20
Ingredients = £10
Getting sacked for "accidentally" releasing the book to the entire
planet before it even hits the shelves = PRICELESS!
It seems that someone at Jamie Oliver's publishing company sent a word document version of his 2nd book to one of their mates this morning. Unfortunately for the poor sap who sent the word document, it is now flying around the web at a rate of knots.

Poor guy.... :(
