Hubby is at medical right now...
« on: May 08, 2006, 09:41:19 AM »
Dimitri just sent me a text...he is in the waiting room at Knightsbridge doctors waiting for his exam. I feel so sorry for him...had to leave around 3 am for that loooong drive down from Newcastle. Wish him luck!

His visa interview is May 30th...wow, I never thought this day would come. It has been a long, hard, frustrating year.

Good luck to all you other repats!

Hi...sorry it has taken a bit to respond...the last few weeks have been so busy!

We were not able to DCF as I did not have ILR. We sent the application to the London embassy in June of last year, but they "rejected" it and sent it on to the Vermont service center and it was officially received in July. So...the whole process will have taken about 10-1/2 months (if he gets the visa on May 30th...fingers crossed!)

Will you be able to DCF?

We are moving back to southern Maine on the coast as I own a home there. I don't think we will be there more than a year or so...really worried about the job prospects  ???

Good luck with your application!  :)

Thanks for all the positive thoughts and well wishes!  :)

Dimitri said the physical was relatively painless and quick (he had the immunization shots here at the local surgery a few months ago so no jabs!

So, barring any problem with his blood test all should be fine with the medical!

Will update on the interview May 30th...hopefully we will receive the last Russian document we are waiting for sometime in the next few days. I will be gutted if it doesn't come and everything is delayed even more... :(

I don't think so as I don't have ILR.  I have an e-mail into USCIS here in London as they told me I could file here, but I think they didn't understand that while I have a visa, I don't have ILR.  So, I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Congratulations to you and thanks for your good luck - I'm sure we'll need it!

Good luck Geally I know how much it means to you to get back to loved ones!

(I still hate the Vermont Center -hate it...) I'm glad the two people I know on this site that have had to use it have had a better time than we did!

This sounds like the same conversation I had with them! I went ahead and sent my application to them...then they said that they did not have jurisdiction so they sent it on to Vermont! Luckily we had no problems and Vermont entered it into their system and accepted our fee (which was US money order obtained when I was back visiting last June)...I have known a few people from other forums that had their applications forwarded and then they weren't accepted (one was because of credit card payment details or something.)

Anyway...did you just send your application off to Vermont? Or to London?

Yep...no problems with Vermont or the NVC. In fact, the NVC is so much easier to get a hold of via the phone and have been a big help...even answering questions once our application was approved and sent on to the London embassy. (Was sent to London the first part of Feb. So it has taken about 4 months from NVC sending until the embassy interview May 30.)

Are you two still planning on heading back to the states at some point?

I haven't sent it yet as I'm waiting to hear back from them.  I'm desperate not to have it rejected, but it sounds like it is very common and if you do one thing they deem wrong, it's rejected!  I'm going to pay by credit card, I think, as I don't know how else I'd pay here.  I wish the directions were clearer on all of this!

I hope it doesn't take 10 months, but if it does, it does.  I'm just anxious to get the process moving!

You must be so excited!!  I'm very happy for you and I hear you re-jobs!  That's what we're most worried about too in terms of hubby.

How long have you lived here in the UK? That can make a difference, even if you don't have ILR yet.

Have you been to the www.diveintoamerica.com site yet? There is a thread there for people who attempted DCF and whether or not they were accepted or not. It shows how many months/years they had lived here when they attempted DCF and whether or not they were accepted or sent on to a US service center.

It generally has been taking 10+ months. We have been diligent about getting everything filled quickly etc. A bit longer as I live here so the forms were sent to my mother in the US and then forwarded to me. If you do not DCF the forms have to be sent to a US address.

 :)
