Is there a way to block people on your friends listing from seeing certain things?  Like your status or photos?

Are you trying to tell us something, Mindy?  :)

On a similar vein, does anyone know if you can stop the pages you are a fan of from being seen by others? I am a 'fan' of UK-Y on facebook, but I'd rather not have all 180-odd of my facebook friends being able to click on the link and see that I belong to this forum and what my username is here  :-\\\\. I had a look at my account settings the other day and there seem to be privacy settings for practically everything else except the 'Pages' section!

Yes!  I don't want you seeing my drunk photos!

No, actually I wanted to make a snarky status about something at work but um, too many people I work with would see it.  It's too much hassle though so I'll just think it in my head.

I think pages fall under "personal information".

Thanks for the reply :). I just tried it, but blocking the personal information section just blocks the personal info listed above Work and Education on the page (i.e. my favourite films etc.). I haven't yet found a way to block either the Groups that I belong to or the Pages section.

Edited to add: Crap, I just checked the help pages at the bottom of the facebook screen and it says there is currently no way to block pages I'm a fan of from other users, but that they are planning to add more privacy features for them in the future. I might just decide to not be a fan for a while until they update the settings.

Aw, that sucks.  I was sure it would be considered personal information.

I have an old high school person that added me... he has like 3000+ friends though .... he's a socialite in Nashville... though it is a bit interesting to see how the other half lives!

KSand24 - the only way you can stop people from seeing the pages you're a fan of is in the search category when people are initially searching for your name.  (Go to Settings, then Search you can tick or untick boxes people can see when searching for your name.)  I think however, if / once you add that person to your friends list they can see your fan pages though.   :P

Yeah, that's what I finally gathered after fiddling around with the privacy settings for about an hour :P.

From the Help section regarding pages:
"Can I hide the Pages I'm a fan of from my profile?
Currently we do not allow users to hide the Pages they are Fans of. However, we plan to provide more robust privacy controls for Pages in the future."

Sorry, I think its pretty boring.  I don't bother "friending" old classmates -- don't think I would really want to know them now.

I have a natural curiosity that leads me to be"friend" old classmates just to see where they've ended up. Most are moms, and it's fun to see their kids looking just like them. I enjoy it! I haven't really talked to many of them, just a few old friends to catch up a bit. I mostly use Facebook to find friends I'd made/lost in the 14 years SINCE high school from my time in Alaska, Ohio and Texas and it'll be a convenient way to keep up with people after I move overseas.

The girls from high school that I talk to now weren't really my "friends" in HS.  We were in activities together, but they weren't really close friends to me. It's funny, how close I've gotten to them!
