Premiereship Supporters?
« on: January 08, 2004, 02:30:43 AM »
*gasp*

I copied this list from the current Premiership Table (rankings). Leeds is where Charlton should be, goodness. I'm not an official supporter, but support Arsenal by marriage. ;)

Who will win the Premiership this season? Who will be relegated? How long did it take other Americans to pronounce Premiership correctly? 2 years here!  :P

I'm a Chelsea girl.  Fell in love with them a year after I arrived (BTW, long before Abramovich's millions) and they were right on my door-step when we lived in West London.  I'm now stuck deep in Spurs territory.  *sigh*

Rhia, my hubby's a Sunderland fan (born and bred there).  Bet our two husbands would get on like a house on fire.  ;)

Ok, since we are on the Premiership, what draws you to the team you currently support?  We know Leah is Arsenal by marriage and I'm Chelsea by location/choice.  What about the rest of you?  How do other Brits react when you announce your affiliation?

I usually get, "Ewww, Chelsea, they are full of foreigners."  To which I reply, "Then I should fit in nicely, eh?"

Not to worry Caitlinn, practically all of Bolton Wanderers are Scandinavian/Dutch!  But all generations of my family, going back as far as I can see, have been Boltonians, so I have to support them, even though it has not been a bundle of laughs to do so over the years!  I even bought shares in their company about 6 years ago, at about 15p per share - they are now worth about 0.00001p each!

Most of my English family are Man U mad aside from one of my daughters who's a Chelsea fan after living a few years in London. I support Liverpool just to p**s them all off ;D

P.S    I WILL however admit that George Best and Eric Cantona are the two best players I've ever seen :P

Rhia, I am totally with Water on this one (mind you, I scarcely ever if at all find myself disagreeing with him on any subject whatsover - I wonder if we were brothers in previous incarnations?!)!  And this is *nothing* to do with the fact that United won against the Wanderers on Wednesday (2-1)!

Speaking of Eric Cantona, I was watching Elizabeth with Cate Blanchard the other night.  I nudged hubby and said, "That French Embassador looks strikingly like Eric Cantona."  We went to IMD, and sure enough it was.  Didn't know that he had gotten into acting, but most have been French films.

Well, I became an Arsenal supporter after I read 'Fever Pitch'.  My husband doesn't like any sports at all, so I needed some guidance.    ;)
