What shoes did you wear on your wedding day?
« on: May 13, 2006, 04:29:10 AM »
Several of my friends have been getting married lately and the most recent one showed me the shoes she's going to be wearing on her big day. They were cute, but had four inch heels!  :o She's going to be standing up most of the day (ouch!) and no one is really going to be able to see her feet under her poofy dress anyways. What kind of shoes did you wear?

I would go for comfort!  The first time I got married, my ex was about the same height as me so I wore flat shoes.  Second time around I wore my favourite sandals of the time, they have about a 2 inch wedge heel and are very comfortable.

And here they are!:

This is funny actually. I bought my wedding shoes from the wedding store at Bhs. I had just moved here and didnt realise there was a difference between UK and US shoe sizes. I am a US 8.5 but didnt see half sizes at Bhs so bought a UK9. My UK shoe size is only a 6.5! I dont know why I didnt bother trying them on in the store. I was in such a hurry!! I didnt take them out of the box till the right before my wedding car arrived. I clomped around all day!! Anyway they were just a plain cream colour, satin two inch heel shoe.

I can't remember where I got mine they were champagne colour and my dress was 1920's style so I managed to get a pair of shoes to match ...but it snowed (the rare time it does in london) and so for the ceremony I wore them but for the rest of the reception I had boots...the dress was long so you couldn't see  anything  any way.
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I haven't gotten my shoes yet, but I'm thinking flat sandals.  My fiance and I are the same height, so I don't want any type of heel.  And sandals are comfortable and good for a summer wedding!

I don't remember for wedding 1 or 2 -- I think for wedding 1 I had those standard satin shoes -- they were cream-colored to match my dress, but you know the 'dye-to-match' kind of shoes.

For my wedding to Steve, well I was 3 stone heavier than I am now (and I am still heavy) -- back then ANY kind of heels would hurt my feet (still do really) but I got a pair from Evans here in the UK -- they were cream-colored slingbacks with lots of sparkly beading on them (very pretty!) and about a 1-2 inch heel (somewhere in there, not too bad as heels go).  I wore them before, during, and just for awhile after the ceremony -- outdoor photos & such.  When we were sitting down for the 'wedding breakfast' (aka supper), I had had enough of those shoes!  I kicked them off & ran around barefoot for the rest of the night.

My hubby and I are also the same height but the dress was so long I wanted some sort of heel to keep me from stepping all over it.

I started off with some ecru coloured wedding shoe with some decoration type stuff on them.  Then I switched to my high pink flip flops after the ceremony and for the rest of the night, they were so comfy and a hit with the guests as well.

Wedding one - some white satin 2" heels.  Can't remember much about them but I think they were pretty cheap.

Wedding two - glittery gold sandals from India with again 2" heels.  But I didn't wear them much as the entire ceremony was barefoot for everyone (guests included).  My BIL who showed up late accidentally walked in the back door with his shoes on and the priest had words with him.   ;D

There will be a wedding three - with DH!  not someone else! - when we are finally allowed to have a Catholic ceremony.  I am not sure what I will wear but hopefully something off white with off white heels as well.

I bought mine at the shop where I bought my dress.  I was going back and forth between here and NYC before the wedding so one-stop shopping worked for me!  And I liked the shoes.  They were off-white satin, about 2 inch heels.  I agree in terms of making sure they're comfortable!

Mine were flat, ballet-style shoes but with hard soles and no heels.  I bought them from the same shop as my dress.  I had the seamstress there take off the ugly ballet-shoe style string bow that was on the front and put a small group of diamantes instead.

I'm fairly short at 5'4" and my husband is 6'2", so I totally went for glamour and height with my 3 1/2" slingbacks. Yeah, my feet were hurting by the end of the night, but I absolutely adored my shoes. Wouldn't have traded them for anything else in the world. They were the perfect shoes for my wedding day.
