For my wedding, I got mine at Payless and went home and embellished them a bit. I just wanted to make sure I had comfortable shoes for the day!  My sister is getting married this summer and I am in charge of making her bridal flip flops so she can wear them at the reception. They will be white platform flip flops with some added glam.  ;D

My sis-in-law wore sneakers...yes, white sneakers that she embellished with sparkly things.  But that's the kind of girl she is (and why we're friends!).  I'm planning on funky flip-flops if I get married on a beach, gold sandles if I do the Hindu wedding thing, orwhite ballet shoes if I get married at the courthouse or whatever civil ceremony I'd have. (We're still working on it and probably won't get it figured out until after our visit to the States in June).

I wore a flat ballet style shoe. It didn't have that silly wrap around on it, thank goodness!  It was pretty simple and basic as that was all I wanted. My mother made my dress, which I am so proud of!  I call it my Juliet dress. I am not into sleeveles, low-cut, or big trains.  It was an empire waist with soft flowing sleeves.  Anyway, I wanted something to match the simplicity and beauty of the dress and chose the flat ballet style knowing I wanted to be comfortable the rest of the evening as well.  Heels would have killed me!!  At the same time I didn't want to be too tacky just to be comfortable.

I wore black velvet pumps with a sensible 1 1/2 inch heel....matched my dress perfectly which was a black Laura Ashley tea length with a black velvet bodice and sheer sleeves.  Lovely!

I wore dusty pink strappy sandals with 4 inch heels that I got at BHS, which I wore with a Per Una suit from M&S. :)  I only wore them for the ceremony then we went home, changed and went out for lunch.

(First wedding white satin pumps, but that was one of those chantilly lace and blue roses church-ified occasions and look what that got me!)

cream coloured ballet-style flats I bought at Stead & Simpson.  I put insoles in them as I have arch problems and they lasted me from noon until 10-ish before my feet hurt at all.

While getting ready I wore my fluffy-trim Dunlop slippers though (Dunlop being my married name)

Satin flats that are dyed to match my dress.  Simple and nice, and comfy!

I wore fancier white shoes with a low-ish heel for the ceremony, but once it was over, I changed into these very comfy white keds that my mother in law had snazzied up with frilly laces.  No one would see them anyway... and boy were they comfy.  My feet didn't hurt once for the entire reception and I danced my keester off :)

If no one is going to see them, go for comfort.  Your feet will thank you.

My shoes looked very similar to these.  I love them!!  I changed into a flat sandal at the reception though.

I can never ignore a shoe thread!!!!! :P  I'm not engaged yet (soon?) haven't even thought about what my gown might look like, but have already started saving for the Jimmy Choo's...LOVE THEM!!  SO COMFORTABLE!!!  Just can't decide which ones I like best.  I'm guessing my shoes will cost more than the gown.  Oh well  ::)

I wore shoes from a wedding shop when I was standing in my sister's wedding (she insisted) and they killed my feet.  So for my wedding I got Mudd shoes from JCPenny's.  Nice 2" big square heel, and they come in off white.  I wanted to get them for my sisters wedding, but they were out of my size,  2 years later for my wedding they were still carrying the same style and colors.

My soon-to-be-df and I are the same hight, and I don't want to be taller than him on our wedding day, so I've already started searching shoes.com and looking in stores for the 'perfect' pair of flat shoes. I'm thinking decking out a pair of flip flops? That's all I wear most of the year anyways.

Nevermind I have no clue what kind of engagement ring or dress I want...as long as I have the shoes, it's all good.  ;D
