I know!!  I was considering seeing if there was some kind of 2-day a week or a minimal job I could do at our local one (10 minutes away - arghhh!!!!) just to shop there!!!!  Now that I'm pregnant, I've abondoned that idea and just dream of Kraft Parmasean Cheese...... (hey, everyone has their thing, right?)....

I'm sorry, I'm sorry...  :-\\\\
I know that everyone has their 'thing', but... are you saying that Kraft fake powdered parmesan cheese (in the green shaker, if i remember from my childhood?) is better than real parmesan?!  :o

So sad....but it's SO much cheaper than the little containers you get here!! I certainly like the fresh stuff better, but I eat pasta nearly every day and love my cheese, so it is a cheaper option...

So pathetic, I know.....

I discovered the Fresh & Wild (Whole Foods owns) and they have a lovely cheese section, with parmesan riggiano!!  Now I just have to wait for my boxes to get here with all my kitchen goodies in it!  (the green Kraft stuff is crap! my opinion ofcourse!!)

Soy protein powder and ground flax seed Im thinking my parents should send me from Whole Foods back home, much cheaper!

Even places like Tesco have parmesan reggiano. It's easy to find!

After postage?? Are you sure?? You can get things like that at health food stores such as Julian Graves. I'm not sure of the prices, but even if they cost more than in the US (which is likely), I still think it's cheaper than sending over from the US. I could be wrong, though.

Helen, my parents want to send care packages and they shop at Whole Foods.  Being retired, its something they would enjoy doing for me.

I dont like Tesco, but Ill check out Sainsburys for the cheese!  Thanks :)

Would they enjoy doing it for me too?  'Cause I'm sure we could arrange something... ;D

I don't like it either, but unfortunately, it's my only option. :(  However, I'd think if Tesco sells it, then Sainsbury's definitely will!

Hellman's Mayo!!! Now, I know what you're all thinking -- they sell Hellman's in the UK. It has the identical label and everything, but it just tastes wrong. So I brought a jar from home one trip and put them side by side. Sure enough, the Brit version had vinegar listed as the first ingredient; the American version had eggs as the first ingredient. And that's exactly the difference in taste -- the US version is fluffy and white and eggy, UK version is thin and sour and beige. Feh.

I've made mayo from scratch in moments of quiet desperation, but it keeps for about ten minutes.

Now that I know I'll be moving, I've started re-acquainting myself with friends I have neglected, mostly in the hopes I can hit them up for favors like the occasional pouch of tuna and jar of mayo. I'm such a weasel.
