I haven't noticed the difference with Hellman's mayo? I use the light version so maybe its not so obvious?

Anyway, question for everyone. I just starting buying Bisquick this year to make pancakes. When I ordered two boxes from Tesco a couple of weeks ago, they were out. Today we popped in (with body armour on) specifically to pick a couple of boxes up.....and it looks like they just stopped selling it.....needless to say I am pretty bummed about it (figures didn't bother with it for 2 1/2 yrs here)...now I am hooked on pancakes on the weekends.

Where has everyone else found it OR what other product can you use to make them? Thanks!

Me either, and I use the regular non-lite Hellman's. I find US mayo a bit too sweet, so maybe I just prefer the UK stuff.

I found it at our Waitrose and the Waitrose in the next neighborhood over.

Sure enough, the Brit version had vinegar listed as the first ingredient; the American version had eggs as the first ingredient. And that's exactly the difference in taste -- the US version is fluffy and white and eggy, UK version is thin and sour and beige. Feh.

I was curious, so checked my UK Hellman's label. Nope, vinegar is pretty far down on the list of ingredients -- after eggs.   ???

mine too... and mine is white and fluffy, not sour and beige and thin.

Not sure what you've been eating, Stoatula!

The ingredients are listed here and vinegar is way down the list.

Well! Up with this I will not put! (Makes mental note to bring jar of Hellman's to the UK on next trip for photo comparison). I shall revisit this thread in May!

These are the US ingredients:

INGREDIENTS: SOYBEAN OIL, WATER, WHOLE EGGS AND EGG YOLKS, VINEGAR, SALT, SUGAR, LEMON JUICE, NATURAL FLAVORS, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (USED TO PROTECT QUALITY).

These are the UK ingredients:

Vegetable Oil (77%), Water, Pasteurised Egg & Egg Yolk (8%), Spirit Vinegar, Salt, Sugar, Lemon Juice, Mustard Flavouring, Antioxidant (Calcium disodium EDTA), Paprika Extract.

Looks like the main difference is the type of oil used.

Mayo tastes the same to me but...

I always thought there was a difference between coke, cans (12oz) vs the 2ltr bottle (the real coke not the Fake stuff). Is that my imagination?

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Well, I'm truly puzzled. It was definitely the relative position of eggs and vinegar that differed. I held two jars of mayo, one in each hand, and did a triumphant dance on the kitchen floor. A girl doesn't forget things like that.

Sigh. It was a long time ago. And I may not have been entirely sober.

I have found a great site to buy my groceries on line Fluff, Aunt Jamima's Kraft, fruit loops  the lot -  newcomer link: http://www.letseatdirect.com [nonactive]   and hit the American button on the left hand side.  Costs £5 to ship so I buy a hit once a month.... let me know what you think

If I don't have to order anything online, I'd be very much appreciative.

Does anyone know where in SE England I can get some Black Beans?  As a native Texan, I miss these terribly, and I have been unable to find them in Marks and Spencer, Asda, Tesco, and Waitrose.  Does anyone at all know?

I had a hard time find black beans too, but in the end got them from the Sainsbury delivery.
