Has anyone come across any A1 Steak Sauce over here in the UK?  I currently have Leon Perrins, but I would like to get some A1 for a specific recipe, if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Somebody about 5 posts above yours said they found A1 at Selfridges in Birmingham.  I've also seen A1 Sauce at Selfridges in London, which has a huge selection of American food products including Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrups, Lucky Charms cereal, Oreos, real Arm & Hammer baking soda (not that bicarbonate soda crap that makes my cookies fall flat!), Hershey bars, lots of Tex-Mex salsas and dips, Toll House chocolate chips, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Marshmallow Fluff, Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, Skippy Peanut Butter and more. The American stuff used to have its own "Cult Food" shelf but now its part of the larger "International" grocery section mixed with other country products. None of it is cheap; the stuff costs slightly more than the UK online shops but since you don't have to pay for shipping, it works out about the same price. I broke down last week and got the pancake kit!

Last week I went to Costco in north London for the first time. Not much American stuff. They did have Orville Reddenbocker microwave popcorn, but it was that nasty sweet stuff with sugar, not butter.

Does anyone know where I can get an icecream cake?  Like the ones that Caravel or Diary Queen sell??  I have had one for every birthday of my life and this might be the first year without one.  If not, does anyone know what the chocolate crunchies are made of in the cake?  I might try and make one.

I've found Bisquick at my local Tesco now.  This is right after my friend brought herself back a giant supply from the US, hehe.

There's a Baskin Robbins outside Baker Street station in London (out the side entrance - heading toward Marylebone Station). Never been in it, so no idea if they do ice cream cakes though.... I've never seen another one, but if that one is there, it seems likely there are others....

I don't know if these have been posted at all, because I haven't read through the pages and pages of posts...

http://www.travelandtreats.com/shop.htm

And there is a shop here in Kensington, on Gloucester Road called Partridges, they have some American products, including Country Time Lemonaid...which cost £7!!!!

Hope this helps anyone looking for American treats!

I'm not sure if this is new, but I don't recall it mentioned in the time I've been keeping up with this thread:

A GREAT find of American food in Milton Keynes shopping centre.  It's a store called "Let's Eat" that mostly does hot food/coffees/café stuff, but they've got a little import food section.  The selection is actually better than anything I've personally found in London (thought the prices are just as bad).  Lucky Charms, Apple Jacks, A1 sauce, cake mixes, Crisco, lots of different chocolate bars (Baby Ruth!!), barbeque sauce, peanut butter, Fig Newtons, Nilla wafers, Oreos, Chips Ahoy, pancake mix, pancake syrup, black beans, etcetc.  There's more, but I can't remember everything!!  I've been to Selfridge's, Harrod's, and a couple other in'tl food stores in London, but this little place is the biggest selection of American foods in any one place I've seen so far.  £6.75 for a box of cereal, but if you're desperate...:-P

They sell on ebay, and through their own website, too.
What's good about them is that their postage is £5.00, no matter how much you buy!

Oh wow, I didn't know that.  Thanks for heads-up.  I'm astounded that they had Stubbs' barbeque sauce (a homegrown Austin, TX favorite) for an extremely reasonable price.  The boy & I stocked up on chocolate bars! (Reese's Pieces!!)

I went to Partridge's in Chelsea last weekend. What a great find. Largest selection of American products in London that I've seen so far.  Much better than my old favorite, Rosslyn's Deli, where the stuff was hidden in a back stockroom as if they were embarrassed by the fact that they offered Lucky Charms and Fluff Stuff.  Partridge's has a huge selection, including Stubb's BBQ sauce and other brands. And yes, Reese's Pieces too!  My only complaint was that the American flag hanging on the wall was BACKWARDS! (Blue field of stars on the upper-right, rather than upper-left!)  I let the cashier know and they promised to correct the mistake.

I've compiled a list of links to American expat resources in the UK (mostly London) on my blog:  http://www.twocrabs.com.  It's on the right-hand sidebar, about half-way down the page.

:P

If you can get to Kew, Richmond Surrey, there is a store called Squires on Sandycombe Road, TW9.  It isn't far to walk from Kew Gardens tube station or you can drive.  Sandycombe Road is just off the A316.  The whole address I'm not sure of but I do know that it is something like 11 Victoria Parade, Sandycombe Road, Kew, Richmond Surrey TW9 3??
They have Kraft Mac and cheese, just got a shipment of Twinkies, goldfish, Welchs grape jelly, Jif crunchy peanut butter and Skippy too, Betty Crocker and sometimes duncan Hines, Aunt Jemima Maple Syrup, Progresso bread crumbs, Strange oreo things, Reeses peanut butter cups, marshmallows and marshmallow cream, can't remember anymore, lots of soda pops from the US as well.

Hope that helps
Do what you have to do!

i've always wanted to open an American pub that showed proper American sports, served proper American food, with a side room that sold proper American groceries. The pub will be called "UK Yankee's".  I'm looking for investors.  :o)

I went back to Partridge's this Saturday and I'm happy to report they have now re-hung the American flag in the proper manner! There were 3 other Americans shopping there and we got to talking about foods we all missed, and the outrageous prices like £7 for a box of Lucky Charms!
