This may have been mentioned before but I didn't want to read through 29 pages just to make sure.

My fiance (only for another 5 weeks and 1 day though) was losing the rag because she couldn't make biscuits and gravy as easily as in the states because she couldn't manage to find bisquick over here.

Solved the problem now though with the following website.

www.sweetstall.com

It ain't the cheapest and it is mostly sweets but it does have Betty Crocker Busquick mix which we struggle to find up in Scotland even though I have been assured that Asda and Sainsburys stock it.

I will miss ranch dressing, grits, and route 44 sonic drinks.

I've had "ranch" dressing in England before and it was an abomination!! It tasted like vinegar!

:(

Ah well, I'll learn to love another salad dressing, i suppose.
Here we go:

20 AUG 2009- Biometrics

You can get the dried Ranch packets that you make up from cybercandy or skyco...and you can get grits from both places I think...I know I got some from skyco...bit pricey but used sparingly it does get you thru the homesick moments!!! Plus I always bring some home when I visit the States....

I'm not back in England yet so I will be packing loads of the little hidden valley powdered ranch mixes. Wicked!

 Ranch aka Arkan-sauce.
Most everyone here pronounces it RAY-nch, it's hilarious.

Thanks for the heads up:)

I make my own. It's fabulous!

She is amazing. I made it while I was still in America, and I just couldn't eat the bottled stuff anymore! I put it in a big jar in the fridge. It keeps for quite a while.

OK, so I know I have mentioned Fenwicks a few times, but just so everyone knows, here are the American imports at the Newcastle location, so if there is a location near you, it's worth checking out:

Hershey bars (even Cookies and Cream and Mr. Goodbar!)
Watchamacallit
Hershey Kisses (also Hugs and Kissables)
Reese's Pieces, Nutrageous, Peanut Butter Cups, Big Peanut Butter Cups, and Reese's Puffs cereal
Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter M & Ms
Lucky Charms cereal
A-1 steak sauce
Miracle Whip
Skippy Honey Nut Peanut Butter (creamy and super chunk)
Regular Skippy Peanut Butter
Double Stuft Oreos
Chocolate Creme Oreos
and a few other things I can't remember!

Here is their website for a list of locations: http://www.fenwick.co.uk
(It looks like they have several locations besides the one in Newcastle)

Be aware that a few of these items are very expensive, though! A box of Lucky Charms was an astonishing £7 (ditto for the A-1)! But the Skippy, Oreos, and miscellaneous candy bars weren't too bad. Anyway, you can look at it as a special treat if you do decide to splurge. For me, it's the comfort of knowing they're there.  :)

Bentall's in the Kingston shopping mall has a wall of American foods, random stuff, can't remember everything.  I'll try to make note next time I am around there.  I remember baked goods-- pancakes, cupcake mix and icing, cookies, popcorn.

I can only speak about London, but I'd imagine any upscale food store would have SOME selection. Just off the top of my head - Partriges (Duke of York square and Glouscter Road), Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Harrods.

I didn't go through all the pages here to find out, but does anyone know where I can get Hamburger Helper in the Northwest UK or anywhere?  I really miss it, it was one of my favourite things back home, and I also miss American Dr Pepper.  I do drink UK Dr Pepper but it doesn't have the same kick that the American one does!!!  I do miss Sloppy Joes too, but I have a friend of mine that gave me some sachets of it not long ago before I came back here.

Tescos sells koolaid in their Caribbean section. They also do a grape soda thats really nice. As well as Reeses Pieces candy. I work in there and we recently got chocolate oreos. I was like a kid getting so excited when I saw them in the warehouse haha

I did a quick search of the forums, so please forgive me if this has been asked before.  Are ziploc type steamer bags available in the UK? (Not specifically the brand name, just the type of item).  Thanks!

Just went to Partridge's (the one near Sloane Square) and this is what I remember seeing of frequently asked for items on this thread:

2 types of hot sauce. 3 or 4 premade wing sauces
A&W Root Bear and Cream Soda, regular and diet (finishing the last of my diet Cream Soda)
3 types of dills, 1 type of bread and butter pickle
1 sort of albacore (can't remember the brand)
1 diet (I think) powdered ice tea.  It was expensive though.  I think it was Lipton and it was £7.99
Tons of peanut butter, American brands and non-American
Rotel
Candy of all sorts
Tons of Pop Tarts
Box cake mixes, canned pumpkin, Crisco, cereal
That Goober jelly/peanut butter weirdness
Tons of salsa/relishes (CORN RELISH), Old El Paso (not sure if it was the American sort or just UK sort)

I've been to both Partridges, and they do change their stock.  At one time they carried Frank's Hot Sauce, and this is why we stopped in today.  None on offer today.
