throw away baking pans
« on: May 14, 2006, 10:54:33 AM »
Do grocery stores here sell the kind of baking dishes you throw away once youre done with them? I dont think I have a loaf pan and want to make banana nut bread...Ive been told no buying a pan just for one thing ;) So the throwaways are a compromise...at least to me anyway :P

I cant find them on sainsburys website, do they have them in-store? I also need to go to the mall so will be near ASDA...or I could go to tescos...whoever has them! Even big W if they might, although I doubt that.

I've seen them in £Stretcher shops.

I picked up loaf pans in charity shops just as cheaply, however.

I make loaf cakes a lot b/c they're easy.

I got some of the those recently at Tesco. They had a few different sizes so that might be a good place to check out. I'm sure ASDA would probably have them too.

I bought a really cheap baking dish from Woolworths once.  I think it was only like £1 more than the disposable ones.  And here's you argument....

What happens if he really loves your banana bread???  If you buy the regular one, you can make it again and again.   :)

But surely a baking pan is something that you can use for more than just banana nut bread?  Once you've bought a couple of throw-away pans, it's no longer cost effective vs a regular pan that you can use again picked up at PoundStretchers or a charity shop.

(Reg bread, loaf cakes, etc.)

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

I agree, just buy a cheap "permanent" one.  If you never use it again for baking, you could always use it as a plant pot instead!

How can anyone hate food?  It's just so....GOOD!  :D

My DH also doesn't really like leftovers but he sure as heck eats them!  He would rather do that than face my wrath.

I concur with the others - just buy a real one because it'll be nearly as cheap as the throw-aways.  I'm sure you'll find some other kind of bread to make in it!

I need to check into 'Good Food' - am really dying for some ideas.  DH and I are getting into a rut, which is sad considering all the great stuff you get in the UK...

Haha I cant say I dont see why ;)

I couldnt find any at sainsburys and need to go to the mall soon anyway, will see what cheapo pan I can find :) Thanks everyone!

(I agree its no longer cost effective after you buy it more than once, and I must admit to not having checked his parents stuff, maybe they have one and he just has no clue ;))
