The most famous or infamous
« on: January 10, 2004, 12:16:21 AM »
Due to the misunderstandings of the former similarly titled topic, I put a less defined one up.  Therefore hopefully any new suggestions can be made without any likelihood of offending either those who think it should be a strict and regimented and those who just want to say who have made an impact in their lives and don't give a hoot to where they may have been born or bred.

To me a few particular people stand out that they are quintessentially English and therefore a great part of what England is. Equally with the other countries which make up the United Kingdom. Or other parts of the world for that matter.

So, do you have any idolistic idea of what an Englishman is?  When you think of England would it be exemplifed by such as Kenneth Williams, Terry Thomas or Stephen Fry?  Who in your opinion is quintessentially the image of what England is?  Or for that matter what personality would you say is analogous with any of the country? (related to the site of course;))

I don't think there was any misunderstanding of the previous topic....:)
English is English.

Quintessentially English ?

How about David Niven ? Think of his role in My Fair Lady..........

Prince Philip maybe ?

Lady Di ?

Maybe a more down to earth suggestion would be the entire cast of East Enders.
